Thats fascinating - whale and basking sharks seemed to have followed suit from these guys. Only that back then they didnt encounter any #microplastics I bet you...

Scientists from the University of Bristol and the University of Zurich have shown that #Titanichthys, a giant armored fish that lived in the seas during the Late Devonian period 380 MYA fed in a similar manner to modern-day Basking Sharks. #FishSci 🔬:royalsocietypublishing.org/doi/10.1098/rs…

In time for the kick off for our second year focussing on #microplastics and #baskingsharks we see them return to the Irish coast browsing for planctonic prey.Unfortunately due to C19 we had to postpone field work to next year but we are so glad to see them return in high numbers
