It really isn’t mentioned enough that President Obama left office with record low unemployment, record GDP growth and low gas prices even after being handed the worst economic disaster since the Great Depression.

It really is wild to have lived through four years of reporters staking out grocery store parking lots and never shutting the fuck up about the price of eggs go radio silent on gas prices going up like 40% in six weeks directly b/c Trump attacked Iran.

(🧵1/11) For the past year and a half, I've been investigating OpenAI and Sam Altman for @NewYorker. With my coauthor @andrewmarantz, I reviewed never-before-disclosed internal memos, obtained 200+ pages of documents related to a close colleague, including extensive private notes, and interviewed more than 100 people. OpenAI was founded on the premise that A.I. could be the most dangerous invention in human history—and that its C.E.O. would need to be a person of uncommon integrity. We lay out the most detailed account yet of why Altman was ousted out by board members and executives who came to believe he lacked that integrity, and ask: were they right to allege that he couldn't be trusted? A thread on some of of our findings:

Mary Trump on Democrats who want to return to normal after Trump: “If you think the solution to these horrors is to go back to where we were and resurrect the situations that made these horrors possible, you’re not a serious person. If you aren’t willing to reform the Supreme Court in significant ways. If you are not willing to undo every single thing Donald’s done and do away completely with traditions and norms and start codifying everything. If you’re not willing to get rid of the filibuster. If you’re not willing to draw a bright line in terms of Netanyahu’s government and in terms of Russia. If you’re not willing to abolish ICE and I would argue DHS also needs to be abolished”

$750 X 158,000 teachers = more than $100M directly to @StaplesStores owners. Ford #GravyTrain govt's histrionic Education Minister calls that "support in the classroom". For Ontario taxpayers, it's MORE of Doug's open, brazen corruption.
Paul Calandra@PaulCalandra

$750 directly to elementary homeroom teachers for classroom supplies. The opposition calls that a problem. For teachers, it’s support.

The guy with a gay father voted against gay marriage, married a refugee then helped her family illegally come into canada and screams about how "fake refugees' are destroying Canada. And somehow amassed a net worth of almost 10 million on a tax payer salary for over 22 years.

I have not seen a single mainstream media outlet give this the attention it deserves. Israel blew up an entire Lebanese town, an ancient place. It should be headline news. There’s footage of it happening. Imagine this was your town, and you saw every building blown up by a terrorist army to prevent you from ever returning. You would at the very least expect wall to wall coverage. Instead it passes without a word. It’s not the only town Israel has blown up. And sadly it probably won’t be the last.

Last week marked a new low in @fordnation’s failed leadership: He defied the Canada Health Act by missing the deadline to publicly fund nurse practitioners and end private billing. He said you’d always pay with your OHIP card, not your credit card. He lied. #onpoli

It again shows a two-tier justice system where police departments protect their own.
Paul Manning@mobinfiltrator

So @nathancolquhoun from the Sarnia Journal just wrote a story about Brad Murray, an ex Det Sgt from @HaltonPolice. Brad contacted me out of the blue looking for advice. Want to say 2017ish? He'd been arrested for stealing opioids from evidence and was suspended for the same. I didn't really have any advice for Brad, because our situations were different. He'd been suspended for stealing drugs from property, and I'd been suspended for going to the Toronto Star with evidence of officers committing various offenses, such as stealing drugs from property. Then Brad called me and told me he'd been offered seven figures by Halton Police to resign. He also told me @susanclairmont from @TheSpec had been going around telling anyone who'd listen I'm "bi-polar" and because of this condition I'd also admitted I'd "made everything up." I asked for a statement, which he said he'd provide, so I could sue the proverbial shit out of Clairmont, The Spec, and whichever poor soul she was now fucking at @HamiltonPolice, because it was clear from some of the other things Brad told me she was getting inside intelligence. I'd only met Clairmont once, at the Hamilton court House. I thought she was on her way to a costume party because she came dressed as a Japanese hooker, green see through dress, with non matching underwear, and pig-tails. Anyway, I'm getting off-topic. Brad then went dark on me. Some shit about getting a job with the City of Brantford and he couldn't talk to me anymore. I was monitoring his social media over the next few months, and watched him put in a $100,000 pool and his Brantford home. Suggesting a sudden increase in income, maybe? So why did he get preferential treatment? Brad had dirt. All the bad shit other officers had done, including the names for #ProjectNewton and that mess of a cover-up. So, an officer steals from evidence. Knows where the 'bodies are buried.' He gets a conditional discharge on the criminal charges. He gets a seven-figure payout to retire. Then he gets another six figures job working as a civilian intelligence officer with @SarniaPolice If those officers Brad had dirt on had been dealt with professionally in the first place, Brad could've also been put though the system, fired with cause, and saved the Halton tax payer millions of dollars. Brad's treatment is not accountability. That's not fair. That's not what taxpayers expect. It again shows a two-tier justice system where police departments protect their own. And just to evidence further, I'll add to this the Chief at Sarnia police is called Derek Davis. And Derek used to be Brad's boss at Halton Police when he got caught stealing drugs. I think we can agree that more than coincidental, no? And remember, if the chief tells you to hire someone. You hire them! #onpoli #canpoli thesarniajournal.ca/news/from-stea…

@scubadang722 @TheJasonPugh The ONLY reason we survived the 2008 financial crisis is Liberals in Parliament blocked Harper’s plans to deregulate our banks American -style. When the crash hit, 🇨🇦 Canadians were protected. And Mark Carney was Governor of the Bank of Canada. You’re welcome.
