It is blowing my mind how many people don’t seem able to grasp that oil & gas in the North Sea is not “ours” but was sold off to private companies who will trade it on the international market like any other fuel. We don’t get any kind of privileged access to this fuel.

@sparklecreek @doctor_oxford But the sad reality is they always will wherever they are in world. If you are that rich you employ specialist advisors to offshore your money and never have taxable funds. Banning offshore trusts wd be a start but it will never happen.

@Martinaj70 @doctor_oxford Labour have never imposed a wealth tax on billionaires and people with £10+million. They tried to increase income tax for high earners, a completely different thing and a bad idea. Wealth is not income. Most super-rich have never worked and pay lower tax rates than PAYE workers.

Whatever you think about resident doctor strikes, the govt's decision to downgrade the NHS by - yes, you read that right - "reducing reliance on doctors" is appallingly short-sighted. This will punish patients, who have a right to access high quality care from appropriately qualified medical professionals. How exactly is improving the NHS compatible with reducing its numbers of doctors, @wesstreeting? This is exactly what Jim Mackey appears to be announcing 😳

@sparklecreek @doctor_oxford I do agree with that but the demand for a 26% rise is ridiculous and unaffordable. They earn so much more than other grads after 7 yrs training and are guaranteed a high paid career as they progress. I think working conditions and hours should be tackled first.

@Martinaj70 @doctor_oxford We do not have bigger priorities than restoring the NHS. It is a life and death issue. Doctors spend many years training. They deserve a competitive salary which they can very easily get in other countries. We can't afford to keep losing them.

@Nigel_Farage can you ask in Parliament how many families in UK take home>3.5k tax free in total benefits they claim. Im seeing so many families at DWP taking home enormous amounts money from all diff elements of UC/ PIP. DWP staff feel many claimants get more than they earn.

When Labour tried to supertax rich before- the tax return went down.There may be inequality but what seems obvious soln.doesnt work. Plus we have bigger priorities than more money for doctors. They are well paid now next to comparable grads

Just like the Tories, this corrupt government allows massive tax evasion and refuses to tax the super-rich appropriately.

Britain smashed more renewable energy records last year. Wind delivered 30% of electricity, solar generation grew by 37% & UK emissions fell to 54% of 1990 levels. More clean power means more control over our energy security, bills and our future.
