What does it mean to be a "math person" and who qualifies?
We recently asked around to see what it takes and the answers (even our own!) surprised us!

@MathematicalPwr Do you have a favorite modeling task you use with Ss/Ts?
English

Mathematical modeling unlocks student thinking about math as a real-world tool. Students learn how to define constraints based on reasonable assumptions. This work is important in early stages of learning. Students see math as exploratory and artful, communicating mathematically.

Analyzing students' mathematical communication is a big part of our work at Math ANEX. What do you think makes a strong mathematical explanation? We recently worked with a group of students to get their thoughts on the matter. #iteachmath #mtbos blog.mathanex.com/2023/04/13/wha…

@MathematicalPwr We love your connection to Math Modeling! We think a lot about assessment items that fall into the category of "Design Under Constraints". These items invite students to state their assumptions and see how those play out to answer the question.
English

@lookforsun We agree that being able to express your mathematical thinking is essential! Your "W" in "POW" makes us think of what we look for in the logic category. “Can this answer stand alone and be understood by someone who doesn’t know me and may not understand the info well.” Love it!
