In a radical local intervention our @prestonlabour council has announced a new £805,000 strategy to tackle poverty in our city. Key measures will include: ☑️ Free swimming for the young, old and those on lower incomes. ☑️ Direct payments of up to £400 for families most affected by benefits caps. ☑️ Waiving the need for terminally ill residents to pay Council Tax. ☑️ Payments of up to £100 for low income pensioner households. ☑️ New financial support for young people and carers struggling with the cost of living. ☑️ A boost to the Disabled Facility Grant and Discretionary Housing Payments. ☑️ Extra support for local food hubs and our voluntary sector to address poverty. My response to Lib Dem criticisms of our recent @prestonlabour budget. We are proud to bring back council housing, support an ethical banking alternative and keep the option open of a major Guild Hall refurb rather than turning it into a pile of rubble without a long term plan. Don't be fooled by so called "centrists" who oppose substantial local economic change on a platform of "pragmatism" and "moderation". It is the same economics which damaged our city during 14 years of austerity and beyond.

Reform UK's Deputy Leader Richard Tice avoided nearly £600,000 in tax on multi-million pound profits between 2018-2021 after obtaining a rare legal status for his company. In 2025 he donated over £600,000 to Reform UK. Less money for public services, and more for Reform UK?

REFUSED: @prestonlabour Councillor @Suleman_Sarwar7 led the protests against the creation of a storage yard without planning permission on Blackpool Road. The application has now been refused and enforcement action will commence.

Reform sells itself as an anti-establishment party fighting for ordinary people. Yet its deputy leader, Richard Tice, is a multimillionaire who stashed profits in an offshore trust and a string of dormant companies to avoid paying nearly £600,000 in corporation tax, screwing over the rest of us. Tonight at street kitchen we had 30 additional curries donated by a family from Barton myself and @navvy_1982 madam deputy mayor were able to give 2 hot dishes to 40 people only with help of communities groups reaching out to help every week @prestonlabour @prestoncouncil
