You may have never voted for a Democrat before but if you are a teacher or coach in Texas, nobody stood taller for you than @jamestalarico in the last 2 state sessions. There were a few house republicans who also stood up but they were primaried out by the top state leaders 2 years ago. Many in the Republican party at the state level needlessly attacked you to gain support for ESAs. ESAs could have passed without those attacks, but the attacks made it easier. As a lifelong conservative voter this was hard to stomach. Thankfully some of those guys were defeated yesterday. But always during the attacks Talarico was there for educators. These last 4 years have given me a lot to think about in terms of how I will vote. I have not changed how I feel about things, but no single party gets my vote automatically anymore. I’ll enjoy watching this Texas Senate base and listening to the candidates.

@TXHSFB The last two realignments there have been 249 total in 6A. If that continues Crosby and maybe Westbrook are going up.

2230 would be 239 schools plus opts ups (which I think are 7) making 246 schools in 6A. 2235 would be 237 schools plus opt up making 244. So it is pretty obvious the Houston area is likely to loose a 6A districti.

Doing a look at the UIL numbers released yesterday. In the current alignment there were 99 6A schools in the Houston area. With the numbers released (and assuming no opt ups were requested) there will be 87-89 6A schools. #txhsfb
