Diakite, honest player who gives his all, but surely our recruitment team should be able to upgrade a player who has failed to cement a place for 2 years. #WBA

@Lukey_Stan13 @AliJones9 Agreed Luke. Also, Ali’s now point is a separate argument. I’m merely on about the recruitment team and keeping a player of Diakites quality on for another year - backed by the recent track record. It’s worrying to me. That’s all. Now leave me be, Ali.

Hopefully Diakite carries on this form and helps keeps us up and push on. Ali you stuck up for Mason & Ramsay at times, you were wrong. I’m sure Matt would be thrilled, as would I to be proved wrong about Diakite over the next 12 months.

@AliJones9 I’m really not looking to argue. You have an opinion, it doesn’t mean you’re right. He’s had two years of nothing and played great this past week. Wallace has looked great too, shall we extend his deal? It’s just an opinion, you could well be right and I’d be thrilled if you are.

Hopefully we can invest and progress to a point where we’ve outgrown a player like Diakite but we aren’t in that position now and we won’t be in that position next season, which is all the extension takes his contract to.

@PeterBone1 @MattyJPerry My concern about this Pete isn't so much keeping Diakite and looking to reward him for recent performances, more the prospect of going into next season with a midfield duo of Molumby and OD. Ideal for the current relegation scrap maybe, but we know all too well their limitations.

Didn’t mean to rattle the fanbase, I thought the overarching concern about our poor recruitment team would pull through. Clearly not, and there’s a fanboy -like love for a player who’s played well for a few games. What an app, but thanks to those who have been civilised!

@MattyJPerry Mate I apologise for being a bit of a knob in my reply! My issue was the fact that taking up the one year option was a red flag for our owners which I don’t think it is, to me it’s sensible with age and performance! But genuinely don’t want to come across as that guy

@chrislepkowski Absolutely. Even with recency bias and the timing of the PR, I think it's a good opp to give the opposing view for balance. Deeper issues in this club stem from decisions like this, but that's my take and right now, it won't be the 'popular' view.

@MattyJPerry It at least retains some 'registration' value. Should we wish to move him on in the summer we will get a fee, of sorts, for him, rather than merely lose him for nothing.
Recency bias will inevitably see some push-back to your view, I expect.
