When the officer asks if he knows how fast he was going, the others in the car feel a mix of relief and anxiety, glad the reckless driving has stopped but nervous about the consequences. Thiel, however, remains completely calm and composed. Instead of answering directly, he questions the very idea of speed limits, suggesting they might not make sense as a concept. @MaxMynter yes absolutely. I also like how well it works with just git. They mention in the docs that you shouldn't switch back and forth that much, but I never encountered a problem so far.

Still learning, but I really enjoy jujutsu over git. It forces less linearity, so its psychologically easier to tinker. In vanilla Git I was making "dabble-" branches, but they feel heavier and then you have diverging histories. jj makes rebasing much more natural. And not having staging makes me less afraid about accidentally nuking some changes I wanted to keep.

I used it for 2 weeks on side projects and now since this week i'm also trying it on work stuff; The history rewriting is nice because developing on the cluster is pain but some GPU runs I can only test there so i used git push / pull to transfer code to the cluster. But then you get PRs with like 120 commits that are all just a few lines diff; so now i use jj for rewriting. The force pushing is somewhat ugly but still its nicer to review and easier to keep commits in working logical changes.

@MaxMynter how long have you been using it? the first few weeks were really meh for me. If you use it for a while and go back to non jj projects again and again you start to see it way more.

The funny thing about using LLM to generate test cases is, if there's incorrect logic in the code, the generated test case is likely to write a test that ensure it will pass with the current incorrect logic. 😅

Silicon Valley likes drop outs — maybe a remnant of 60s counter culture — but it shouldn’t be complete crazies. They must be square enough to have gotten into Stanford, Jane, whatever. You end up with people who think they are really smart but simply aren’t very educated. You probably don’t need that to build companies, but its useful to develop taste.

1) Agree. Though its not only about smarts, its also a lot about knowing and starting early in doing stiff admissions comitees care about 2) Its not rly contrarian though. They go on leave and come back if the start up doesn’t work out. And with all the prestige YC and VC etc carries today, it really isn’t contrarian. An achievement, maybe, but not contrarian or even controversial.
