I was responding to “never felt valued.” He was an extremely popular player here, maybe more than his talent warranted. And he got plenty of recognition from coaches and management as he developed.

@LesBowen Think i saw it that the eagles don't pay a lot of players in the 8m-15m range, which is where he landed I guess. Not entirely sure I disagree here, he was a bargain on an undrafted contract, not sure he's value when you pay him by the market.

@Alex_Gillon It's a mixed bag to me. They've solved the issues of cars not being able to follow and overtake but so far in the opposite direction that now drivers don't even contest moves and wait to retaliate with their own battery.
Maybe a lower deployment rate would mean less outage

Keeping both is the smallest cap charge this season (albeit I'm not sure keeping Goedert is a great idea anymore).

But really viewing the cap as a one year deal is kinda missing the point, you can always massage one year cap hits. Multi year compliance is the real test

In 2024 he was 5% of the cap…this year he will account for 10%.
The cap isn’t going up enough to cover up a 10% hit from one player.
That’s why they have to trade brown to create space for Goddert.

Translation: The Eagles would just be kicking the can down the road with Dallas Goedert.
They’ve backed themselves into a corner with this situation because they haven’t drafted a TE in the first two days of the NFL Draft since 2018.
That absolutely needs to change in 2026.

For a little clarity on this: If Goedert's contract were to outright void, the Eagles would be saddled with a $20.5M dead cap charge in 2026. If an extension is signed before Friday's deadline, that $20.5M of void cap will be allowed to remain spread out as per the previous deal. This is what a new 1 year, $10M contract for Goedert would look like on the books ($10M of cap savings).

Can’t recall contract negotiations being leaked before a trade is reported before. Always fair to assume a Greenard extension was coming with any trade, but interesting nonetheless.
