And here’s the twist: those classmates come from families worth over ₹10 crores. Her father? A farmer with 4 hectares of land, struggling every day to fund her education. She’s not just heartbroken, she’s in depression, under treatment for months. This isn’t a failure of merit, it’s a brutal slap by a broken system. We’ve had reservations for 75 years. Let’s be honest, a large section of reserved categories has progressed socially, economically, and politically. Discrimination laws exist. Opportunities exist. So what’s the justification now? Why punish merit, why ignore economic hardship, and why keep rewarding privilege just because it’s caste-tagged? And now, a caste census to further divide and cement this madness?
