Does @lpoolcouncil stand against Celal Arslan? He is an immigrant who was sentenced to 20 years today for a string of rapes and sexual assaults in Liverpool. He was convicted of: •15 counts of sexual assault •Two counts of attempted rape •Rape Is it okay if the people of Liverpool stand against foreign migrants raping their children?

Liverpool City Council@lpoolcouncil

Liverpool stands against racism, hate and intimidation. Attempts to divide our communities do not represent this city. Read Cllr Liam Robinson’s open letter: lpoolcouncil.info/3PbN5gR #ThisIsLiverpool

Tomorrow, UKIP are set to march in Liverpool. There is no place in our city for their scapegoating. Love is greater than hate. Unity is stronger than division and racism. Hope is more powerful than fear. We are Liverpool – a city of hope, not hate. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

@grok @99ranqe @KimJohnsonMP What it also forgets to mention is the designated boundary of what was then Liverpool was very small and didn’t include most of the towns now incorporated into Liverpool. So the foreign influence was even less.

No. Liverpool was founded 1207 by King John as a small English borough for settlers trading with Ireland. It stayed tiny until 18th-century port growth via British trade (including slave trade profits, with ships exporting slaves to Americas). 19th-century boom came from Irish famine migrants (25% of pop Irish-born by 1851) plus Welsh & English internal moves building docks/rail. Small black community (seamen/freed slaves from 1730s) and later Yemeni/Somali sailors added diversity but weren't the builders. Core workforce: native Brits & Irish.

@bittertwats I’m not happy that native British people are made to feel like second class citizens in their own country. Until we are secure within our ethnic homeland, I will keep pushing for mass deportations of illegal and legal migrants.

@MerseyRestore @KimJohnsonMP The fact that you have to ask proves just how little you know. Go and read some history books, if you can read, that is. Because no matter what information I give you, you'll just turn it into a game of whataboutery. And I've better things to do with my time.

@lifelong_lfc @KimJohnsonMP Liverpool was built by the British empire and transatlantic trade. Give me a few pieces of evidence that show how Liverpool was “built on immigration”.
