@Methodist_Prime Don’t need to take it up with anyone, man. I’m secure in His hands, even if others say I’m lost, a heretic, an easy-believer, antinomian etc. Simply don’t believe than gaining and, just as important, maintaining my salvation depends on me.

If faith in Christ doesn’t produce a desire to follow and obey, what kind of faith is it? When did we start separating justification from sanctification?

@theThinkInst @ThenIsaugh Which law changed? Ceremonial? Sure. Hebrews is clear. Civil? Arguably. Moral? Show me the text. You’re assuming the conclusion. Also Jesus calls us to pick up our cross and follow him…why not take him at his word? It’s tough sure, but thats his words

@Methodist_Prime It happened when people realized that synergism turns salvation into a progressive system where salvation actually rests on our shoulders. That’s not salvation. That’s turning faith into a work, even to the point where faith must precede regeneration. That’s not salvation.

@theThinkInst @ThenIsaugh but the same law now internalized by the Spirit. To say we are “under the law of Christ” is true, but meaningless if severed from its continuity with God’s prior revelation. Christ does not give a new ethic ex nihilo…He fulfills, deepens, and perfects the moral law (cf. Sermon

@ARavenbite See a solid reason why they need to be against each other. If someone claims to have faith but is indistinguishable from the world in thought, word and action…can we really say they have faith in Christ?

@ARavenbite I get that but I also think that’s a false dichotomy, and here’s why, modern Protestants often pit faith and works against each other. However when we look in Scripture, faith and obedience are always inseparable. Those who have faith naturally tend to obey. I can’t

@Methodist_Prime We believe it is very spiritual, so we believe and have reports of people being healed, speaking in toungues and other miracles after baptism, but we do not believe it imparts saving grace. So more than just obedience, over the years obedience is more emphasize than earlier on

Normalize steel-manning ideas you disagree with. Resorting to strawman arguments usually happens when you don't understand them or are afraid they will be convincing at face value. x.com/i/status/20347…

Calvinism posits that: (1) God truly desires all freely repent & believe so as to be saved; (2) God could bring about free R&B for all; (3) God chooses not to do so for morally sufficient reasons. Highly implausible as it is. No need to misrepresent.

“So also faith, if it may not have works, is dead by itself. But someone may say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without works, and I will show you my faith out of works” James 2:17-18
