Over time I've come to realize that people are a lot like oceans. You can never really come to know them by simply looking at their surface.

@QuestionAbyss Intellectual petrification. Loss of interest or curiosity in how things actually work, leading to lessening of our ability to understand the wider world around us. Shortcuts can often cut both ways. Added convenience can have hidden long term costs we fail to take into account.

Given we are inclined biologically to crave shortcuts, we built a global infrastructure that turns those shortcuts into a permanent lifestyle--what is the price for this?

@QuestionAbyss Guess it could hinge on exactly how "smart" is defined. I would surmise, though, there is probably a strong correlation between those who always eschewed math and those who never climbed above the first couple of rungs on the economic ladder.

When someone doesn't like or do math and always avoids it, are they gonna be as smart as someone who never avoids it and always does it?

When I produced the Crosley Field exhibit film at Reds HOF in 2009, we had a reel of B Roll footage I used. Sights and sounds from Opening Day 1965. Baseball sounds. Murmurs of conversations. No artificial sounds coming at you every 5 seconds. Just the ballpark. Just baseball.

@thejackhopkins My heart wants to believe there will be answers an accountability. My rational brain tells me all these people are probably going to get away with pretty much everything.

When Democrats occupy the Oval Office once again, there must be a deep and thorough investigation of the United States Secret Service from the top down, and bottom up, as part of looking into the alleged "assassination attempt" that shows members of the Secret Service engaging in what appears to be completely inconsistent with how they are trained to respond.

@ChrisRGibbs The American public is largely unaware and/or unconcerned that there is a huge and catastrophic economic tsunami building just over the horizon. When it finally arrives it will take no prisoners. Almost everyone I know is oblivious or in denial.

You're the Prime Minister of a country that makes things and needs things. The things you make could be scaled to sell to other countries. You look out over the horizon and see this: America > Unstable, predatory, changes mind in middle of night. China > Stable, predatory (kinda), changes mind every 25 years. Which do you up sign with? This is where we're at today.

Do you know why Jaye P. Morgan was fired from The Gong Show? In 1978, she shocked everyone by briefly flashing the TV cameras. The network did not find it funny and quickly removed her as a judge. Ironically, the moment only added to the show's reputation as one of the most unpredictable programs on television.

@cammillerfilms After spending over half of my working life at a Japanese owned company, I gained a huge respect for these aspects of Japanese culture. There are certainly exceptions in any culture, but I can honestly say it was a great environment in which to work.

I know it's a "look at me" and "never accept losing" world. I get it. But class and dignity even in defeat is something we should all applaud.

@Acyn Still wondering which MTG is the real one? Hard to accept that someone could morph 180 degrees so quickly. Is this opportunism? Bitterness cuz she was rejected by Trump? Personal values rarely change so quickly. My skeptical side is wary and not fully sold on this new persona.

Greene: Baby boomers that are in power—that are just clinging to power, living out the end of their days. They're ruining it for the rest of us. Here's the message for the rest of the world: the younger generations of Americans, we don't want war with the world. We want peace. We desperately want peace between all of our nations, we want good trade, we want to have good business deals, and we want to be able to visit your countries and you come visit ours. This is not what we want.

@QuestionAbyss Was on the conventional script into my 30's but recovered from that & by my 40's it was pretty much gone. Wouldn't say my new approach was unique, but since the culture & my community are strongly conventional, it's not always easy being the black sheep. I'm the family apostate.

@TiffinOhioNews Actually, I wholeheartedly support Husted doing as many interviews as possible. The more he talks the more people learn just what a POS he is.

@QuestionAbyss @FFmaxhyde Fact that in so much of the U.S. the tribal pull is in the direction of ignorance, & celebration of ignorance, is pretty telling. Not to mention what it means for the future, such as it will be. Don't see us putting the genie back in the bottle. Time will tell if it destroys us.

@moose196850 So thru much of the latter part of the season they treated his symptoms rather than actually trying to diagnose the root cause, just taking his word for it that he was "good"? No sort of non-invasive testing that could be done to preempt all this? Stupidity all the way around.

Any thoughts on the Hunter Greene situation? This was known towards the end of last season. Probably should have been taken care of then, rather than lose him for half the season this year.
