Nothing makes you a feminist more than having daughters. My oldest had been dating a boy from church for a while and for her own reasons, she ended it on Sunday. Monday morning, she walked out to find her car covered in syrup, shaving cream, and dish soap. Our exterior cameras clearly show the boy and a friend doing it overnight. Local police are dragging their feet, calling it a “prank” and suggesting I “calm down and think about the boy’s future” since he is leaving for the Army this summer. I was left standing there with a 17 year old who is hurt, confused, and trying to figure out why this is being treated like nothing, and she was told to worry about his future instead of justice. I am starting to understand how often the person who was wronged is asked to carry the weight so things stay easier for the person who did it. I do not know how women live with that, being expected to absorb it, excuse it, and move on while the people who hurt them are protected from the consequences. ~ abnerdark182 ( threads)

@KeruboSk Ask yourself why the boy did what he did? Is the daughter an Angel? Did she have a part in causing the ‘prank’? This is why we need alternative justice. Have the kid pay for the car to be detailed. He is an asshole and needs to face his actions, but was there any real damage done

💯 One thing I’ve learned having countless one-on-one conversations about the pandemic: People are carrying far more than they’re saying. If they’re not taking airborne precautions, the conversation often takes a turn. You can see it—the pause, the shift, the weight. Then it comes out. Sometimes it’s frustration. Sometimes grief. Sometimes something they clearly haven’t said to anyone else. It doesn’t seem to matter where it happens…face-to-face, Zoom, phone. They see the mask. They know my background. And something in them decides: “okay…now.” I always clarify I’m not a therapist. But I listen. And it keeps happening…again and again. We’re living in a moment where a lot is being suppressed publicly… and processed privately.

Really and truly, if this has ever been your response to someone asking politely for accommodations for their health, you need to do some serious soul searching. The only response you should have as a decent human being (esp at a medical facility) is: "Of course!"

How have we sunk so low as a species that you can ask a person at a medical facility (or friends, or family, or whoever) to mask around you so they don't disable or kill you and their response is, "Well, I can't guarantee we'll be able to do that."?????

I find that interesting. Them: I didn’t say I haven’t been sick. What’s a Novid? Me: Wait, do you test and mask? Them: 😂 It’s 2026. Me: The study is over. I have all the information I need.
