This week during our SLP, we learned about Monarch butterflies in STEM. Today we had a special visitor bring in caterpillars of different stages in the life cycle. This was such a great experience for students to see the butterfly life cycle up close. 🐛🦋 @WECDSB #SLP2023

Yesterday, the students had an opportunity to work with CodeNinjas to code and create a video game. This was a great learning experience for them and they had a chance to add their own customizations to their character. @codeninjas @WECDSB #SLP2023

Last week, Little Tree Yoga visited our summer learning program to teach the students about yoga and mindfulness and how it can help them to regulate their emotions. This was such a great experience for the students to take part in. 🧘🏼‍♀️🧘🏾 🧠#MindsOnLearningAcademy @WECDSB

Today’s STEM challenge involved learning about symmetry and design while creating a kite that they will soon have a chance to fly! @WECDSB #MindsOnLearningAcademy

Todays STEM challenge involved learning about building kites and symmetry. The students were able to create symmetrical pieces using geoboards and different shapes. Some even made 3D symmetry pieces! @WECDSB #MindsOnLearningAcademy

I am so grateful to have been able to spend this school year with my amazing grade 2 class! I have so many memories to hold with me forever and they have taught me so much this year that I’m so thankful for!💙🧡 @stjeschool

We speak for the trees! With Earth Day coming up, we read “The Lorax” and the students made text-to-self and text-to-world connections. They reflected on how important it is to care for the trees and our planet. 🌎🌳 #TheLorax #EarthDay

The grade 2’s are working on our graphing unit with some engaging math centres. Each centre had either an individual or partner activity where they had to make a bar graph, pictograph or a line plot. @stjeschool @WECDSB

2D has been having fun exploring different types of materials to paint with. Yesterday, they worked on making a spring landscape using a paint brush, paper straws and Q-tips. 🎨🌸🌼🌷@stjeschool @WECDSB

Today the grade 2’s practiced using procedural writing while creating a flower. They had to record the steps they took to make the flower and present it to the class. 🌸🌻🌹 @stjeschool @WECDSB

Last week, the grade 2’s wrapped up our coding using by creating their own maps with start and stop points. They had to create a map with concurrent events and create a list of things to collect and avoid on their way to the final stop. #coding
