The Architect of Modern India: The Legacy of Rajiv Gandhi : It is the story of a truth that was not understood then, but is lived by all of India today. Rajiv Gandhi arrived at the airport on time that morning, as he always did. His uniform was crisp and his eyes held that particular simplicity characteristic of a pilot, not a politician. He lived in a world where "height" meant the sky, not power. The 1970s, Rajiv Gandhi remained distant from politics. His life—shaped by studies at Cambridge and a career at Air India—was built on discipline, technology, and punctuality. He didn’t fear machines; he understood them. 1980 changed everything: the death of Sanjay Gandhi. Indira Gandhi knew that politics would no longer let Rajiv look away. Rajiv didn't want it, but politics rarely asks for "permission." In 1981, he reached the Lok Sabha via Amethi. New to Parliament—he spoke little and listened intently. No one realized he was viewing the country through the lens of the future. October 31, 1984. The assassination of Indira Gandhi. Rajiv Gandhi took the oath as Prime Minister. He was 40 years old. No long political experience and no thirst for power—only the eyes of a grieving son and the responsibility of a nation. Upon becoming Prime Minister, he reviewed the ministerial files, there was paper, delay, and disorder: Railway Reservations: Days-long queues. Banking: Hours of waiting for a simple passbook entry. Telephones: Years of waiting lists. Administration: Sluggishness buried in red tape. Rajiv Gandhi uttered one word: Computer. By 1985, this word had reached Parliament. At that time, the computer was not common in India; it was a source of fear. It was labeled a "foreign conspiracy." Trade unions argued, "If the machine comes, the laborer goes." The opposition charged in Parliament, "This is a blind imitation of the West." Rajiv Gandhi listened in silence. One day, the debate in Parliament intensified. The opposition asked: "Mr. Prime Minister, what use is a computer in a poor country?" Rajiv Gandhi replied:"We are poor because we have learned to fear technology" That sentence may not have made the headlines then, but it was etched into history In 1986, the plan for computerized railway reservations was introduced. The opposition was so fierce that strikes broke out Rajiv Gandhi did not halt the plan. He stated:"The railways are the backbone of India, and to strengthen that backbone, we need technology" Rajiv Gandhi met with officials from the RBI and public banks and said clearly:"The computer will not make the clerk unemployed; it will make him skilled" 1987—Telecommunications. Rajiv Gandhi strengthened C-DOT and emphasized indigenous technology The protests came: "The government is chasing technology at the cost of the people" Rajiv Gandhi didn't argue; he worked. The opposition mocked him in Parliament: "Mr. Prime Minister, you are turning this country into a machine." Rajiv Gandhi replied calmly:"I am preparing the country for the future." Investments were made in IT education. Engineering colleges were promoted. The foundations for Software Technology Parks were laid. At the time, no one imagined that these steps would make India the IT hub of the world. Rajiv Gandhi said:"If we do not move fast today, we will be left behind tomorrow." By 1988–89, computers began appearing in offices. Jobs didn't disappear—work became easier. Railway lines shortened. Banking became faster. Telephones arrived. In 1989, Rajiv Gandhi sat in the opposition—but the same conviction. 1991. An election rally. An explosion. Rajiv Gandhi was martyred. Today, when a mobile is in every hand, when UPI is the norm, and when the country prospers through software—it is essential to remember that none of this happened by accident. It began at a time when computers were feared, and a PM dared to say: "Countries are not built out of fear." This is not a story of slogans or imagination.

#Peace is not something we must invent: it is something we must embrace by accepting our neighbor as a brother or sister. We do not choose our brothers and sisters: we must simply accept one another! We are one family, inhabiting the same home: this wonderful planet that ancient cultures have cared for over millennia. #ApostolicJourney #Cameroon

First they renamed roads, and I did not speak out because I was not a road. Then they renamed cities, and I did not speak out because I was not a city. Then they renamed stations, and I did not speak out because I was not a station. Then they came for humans, and there was no road, city or station left to speak for me.

The apprehensions I had voiced in the last week have proved right When the strength of the Lok Sabha is increased by 50% from 543 to 815, the strength of TN will seemingly increase from 39 to 58. But this is an illusion. When delimitation takes place, it will reduce to 46 Uttar Pradesh's strength will first increase from 80 to 120 and, after delimitation, it will further increase to roughly 140 All the Southern States that have currently a representation of 24.3% will find their representation reduced to 20.7% This is a mischievous, diabolical move to radically alter the federal balance. This must be OPPOSED

This is indeed a #MustRead thread by @NAR_Handle. Not just to be read by the Southern MPs to whom it’s addressed, but by the Government of India, so that it realises how this Constitutional misadventure is being perceived by many in the South. We need a serious discussion on alternative formulae that preserve democracy, protect federalism, appease such anxieties and ensure the viability of the legislature. The Bills before us do none of these. An urgent rethink is needed! @INCIndia
Nayini Anurag Reddy@NAR_Handle

#MustRead ‼️ Every generation of Indians had one constitutional moment that defined their future. For South India, this is it. Not the Emergency. Not liberalisation. Not even the 1971 freeze. THIS Bill. THIS delimitation. THIS Commission. Bill No. 107 of 2026, 131st Amendment Bill. What’s buried inside those 5 pages will affect South India’s political future for the next 50 years. Let’s see exactly what’s written & more importantly, what’s deliberately NOT written. (1/8)

If we confirm that you have won, if we confirm that you are the greatest and most victorious blocker in the entire world, will you put down the phone for half an hour, just half an hour, and attend to your main duties? To the 30 million Americans who have no health insurance, to the 800000 Americans who are homeless, to America's infrastructure that is dilapidated. To the 38 trillion dollars of United States national debt....

What’s the line for you Christians? What’s the final straw? “Epstein is a hoax” wasn’t too far. No new wars to war with Iran wasn’t too far. F bombs on Easter morning wasn’t too far. $5 a gallon gas wasn’t too far. Threatening a “whole civilization” that they would die in a night wasn’t too far. Attacking The Pope wasn’t too far. What about this? Trump posting himself as a Jesus like messiah figure. Complete blasphemy and antichrist vibes.

The victory of the opposition in Hungary yesterday, like the Polish election in 2023, is a victory for democracy, not just in Europe but around the world. Most of all, it’s a testament to the resilience and determination of the Hungarian people – and a reminder to all of us to keep striving for fairness, equality and the rule of law.
