Claude. Daily driver for reasoning, writing, and anything where the answer actually matters. Perplexity. Search-first queries, quick research, anything that needs live web data. Gemini. When i need the 2M context window or im in a Google workflow. ChatGPT. Occasional one-shot tasks, wide plugin ecosystem. Grok / Copilot. Dont make the daily rotation.

Rust. Systems-level, no garbage collector, memory safe by default. Linux kernel, Windows kernel, Chrome, AWS infrastructure all moving toward it. The ceiling is the highest of any language on this list. Python. Wont be dethroned for AI/ML work for a long time. Glue language for everything data-adjacent. Long-term floor is extremely high. Java. 30 years in and still running half of enterprise banking and payments infrastructure. Boring in the best possible way. JavaScript. Everywhere but for the wrong reasons. Fine for full-stack if you want one language, not the strongest long-term bet for serious backend work.

The superapp bet is really a pre-IPO simplification story. Three fragmented products (ChatGPT, Codex, Atlas browser) is a messy S-1. One platform, one subscription is a cleaner pitch to public market investors at an $852B valuation. The screen time question is the right one though. Every superapp that worked (WeChat, Line) did so because payments and messaging created daily lock-in. AI assistants dont have that yet. The risk is OpenAI builds something that does everything adequately and nothing exceptionally.

Grok / Copilot. Wouldnt make the shortlist.

@Saanvi_dhillon Depends what youre doing. DeepSeek for agentic work and price-to-performance, caching is cheap enough to leave running. Kimi K2.6 if you need a 1M context window that actually holds. Gemma 4 for local/on-device. GPT OSS for parallel side tasks in a cloud sandbox.

Claude Code. HBM capacity is sold out. Codex is fire-and-forget cloud tasks. Cursor is autocomplete with a UI wrapper. Antigravity is still finding itself. Claude Code is the only one that actually works end to end on a real codebase, holds context across a full session, and runs parallel subagents when you need them.
