Ok I’ve never shared this publicly before. This glorious human being on my left is Claire Jones. We were born on the same day & were like Sisters. On this day 30 years ago she died in a car accident aged 21. Claire died because she didn’t have a seatbelt. (Not her fault - not law back then in the rear.) It was raining, the driver lost control and skidded - not massively but enough for Claire to leave through the back window. PLEASE don’t let this happen to you. Wear your seatbelt and don’t tolerate others not wearing theirs in your car. #seltbelt #Always21 @brakecharity

@JohnMeredith @MrWNeedham @hadleybeeman Every hospital, GP practice, pharmacy, community service etc etc is a separate legal entity with completely separate data controller responsibilities. Each one needs a data sharing agreement with every other one before they can share. Plus the data subject (patient) needs control

Lots of discussion about digital health records in the NHS today. Modernisation, and privacy. But here’s the thing — we DON’T need a massive new database. Here’s how we do it. 1/

@hadleybeeman Completely right. This is a Shared Care Record, and much of the NHS has one version or another today. Interesting to see if they want to consolidate or use open standards to connect the existing ones.

So please, enough calls for one monolithic database. We know those are exorbitantly expensive, complicate life for all users, stifle innovation at the software layer and create massive privacy and security risks. Think: web and internet. 8/8
