Oh God, have mercy on us as we so often let fear and hate get in the way of LOVE. Show us how to love one another, even if we disagree. Show us how to better love our neighbors as ourselves. May we remember that no matter what may we always move forward in LOVE.

When people argue about whether or not an infant can be baptized, they aren't clarifying what they believe baptism "is" first. If baptism is a statement of your faith, yeah, an infant can't articulate that. That would be silly.
If baptism is a work God does FOR you, as he adopts you into his family, then yeah, infants get adopted all the time. For that matter, people who are mentally disabled, or unable to articulate things can be included too. It's more inclusive, because it doesn't depend on your ability even a little.

People argue about the age of baptism, or the amount of water… I just want people to know the assurance that comes from baptism as a gift, not a test or proclamation of your devotion, for some again and again and again. Baptism is a work of God’s faithfulness, not ours.

@mjfree Only every day he opened his mouth during his first term. But this is even worse (insofar as that is even possible!) He seems to have never learned that basic courtesy that most do, “if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.”

@Bezner It’s so hard, sometimes. I know some of these things have done by other incoming administrations. The fearmongering is awful. And firing by social media. 🤦🏼♀️

Up too late listening to Charlie Parker, thinking about the fact that many Christians believe that politics is a binary between Republican or Democrat when it is instead attempting to thread the needle of faithfulness to Jesus through the eye of the needle of national interest.
To that end, you can, for example:
* Want to secure our national borders but still allow for the resettlement of refugees.
* Support reducing waste in government spending but still want to do so in a way that doesn’t hurt the poor (ie, cutting Medicaid, WIC, school lunches, etc)
* Have strong convictions and yet also retain strong kindness
Falling into binary thinking prevents believers from thinking with a Kingdom lens and instead fools them into believing that a particular party is morally upstanding. I’ve yet to see evidence of that in my almost half century of being an American.
Anyway. Just a thought.
