At least 1,100 Palestinian civilians have been killed there since 2020, more than a quarter of them children, according to UN data. Dozens of former Israeli security chiefs, including two former military heads, five former Mossad and Shin Bet directors, and four ex-police commissioners, have signed a letter warning that "almost daily" attacks on Palestinians amount to "organized activity" by people "wearing uniforms, who shoot at innocent people and burn the property and homes of civilians."
