@verynormalnyguy @gravyglove @MurrayHillGuy1 We walk to restaurants, parks, coffee shop, Amphitheatre for summer programs… lots of suburban developments setup this way. Ranked #1 suburb in America for multiple years in the past decade.
One cool perk too is no human shit or needles on the sidewalk
English

@MusingwithADHD @gravyglove @MurrayHillGuy1 Oh so you have to get into a car to do literally anything. What an amazing lifestyle.
English

@gravyglove @devoe_leo @MurrayHillGuy1 Yall losing your shit in my replies. I didnt show up in your notis
English

@MusingwithADHD @devoe_leo @MurrayHillGuy1 You sound triggered. You sure you are happy? You sound like you might be struggling internally with that.
English

@theobrosevelt @careeningthru @MurrayHillGuy1 Once you have kids you’ll realize stumbling out anywhere doesn’t exist. It’s an hour to get out of the house. Driving 10-15 min is not consequential when you are gaining a way better family lifestyle outside of the city
English

@careeningthru @MusingwithADHD @MurrayHillGuy1 It’s one thing to get ready and plan to go to these places and drive there. It’s another thing to stumble out of your house and already be there. This isn’t some sort of revelation that urban environments have more third spaces and third space utilization.
English

@Bodebil60 @MurrayHillGuy1 Sans kids no reason not to live in city. I did from age 18 to 35. But I wouldn’t glorify no spouse and no aspirations for a family in your mid 30s. Waiting until 40 for all of that is a fools game if you think it’s going to be easy to have kids.
English

@MusingwithADHD @MurrayHillGuy1 It's just something to do honestly. There are no bonfires and pick up truck conventions in the woods for city folks so bars are how they hang with friends.
English

@AbbyJo551283 @MiamiDon223 @MurrayHillGuy1 I think we need to differentiate people with 2 or more kids. You can totally micro manage city life with 1 kid. I did it. Exponentially harder with multiple or 3 with 1 on the way on my case.
English

@MiamiDon223 @MusingwithADHD @MurrayHillGuy1 I grew up in the suburbs and now live in the city. Suburban sprawl is a waste of time unless you like strip malls and big box stores.
English

@402WrestlingFan @gravyglove @MurrayHillGuy1 Homie lives in Omaha with an Xbox live account defining his life. Is “being outside” in the room with us?
English

@MusingwithADHD @gravyglove @MurrayHillGuy1 If you're scared stay in your basement, blue check. The rest of us will be outside.
English

@MarcDiamond14 @MurrayHillGuy1 Why would I be 39 and drinking most nights? My first was born at 32 and I have more respect for myself and family than that. Brought little joy going out once I hit 30. You gotta just grow up and be a man. Serve a greater purpose than doing shit for the gram.
English

@MusingwithADHD @MurrayHillGuy1 Accept you’re not used to the lifestyle and it hurts way worse
English

@AbstractEntityZ @RaiderTy92 @MurrayHillGuy1 Ah yes. That’s the reason the city subsidizes a new football stadium to overcrowd the city on Sundays. It’s because the county 30 minutes away really needed it.
English

@MusingwithADHD @RaiderTy92 @MurrayHillGuy1 It's actually the opposite. The cities subsidize the suburbs. Strong Towns goes into detail about this a lot.
English

@MusingwithADHD @MurrayHillGuy1 Where did he even say anything about a bar? You inserted that yourself.
English

@AbstractEntityZ @RaiderTy92 @MurrayHillGuy1 You are confused. The city wants the $ from the suburbs and builds high density parking garages. No one is demanding that. City is demanding our $ as the money from those in the city limits is not enough to support the economy.
English

@RaiderTy92 @MusingwithADHD @MurrayHillGuy1 You do, but a lot of suburbanites demand for their car addiction to be catered to by the cities every time they go there.
English

@BlairBlaire2 @AbstractEntityZ @MurrayHillGuy1 It’s important for kids to grow up with used needles on the sidewalk in front of their house though. You are missing out on an important foundation in their upbringing.
English

@AbstractEntityZ @MusingwithADHD @MurrayHillGuy1 It’s weird, I do all those things, often with my kids but not always, and live in the burbs. You know you are still allowed to drive the 30 minutes or so and do those things?
English

@gravyglove @MurrayHillGuy1 Should have qualified…Sans crackheads and armed robbery.
English

@MusingwithADHD @MurrayHillGuy1 Wife, kids, community and schools, all things that are famously banned in cities
English

@MusingwithADHD @MurrayHillGuy1 Look up the term: key party.
English

@TheGenderGeoff @MurrayHillGuy1 Most twinks don’t understand that your family is legacy… not your dead seed streaming down your knuckles.
English

Statistics on one element of what I discussed? There’s a lot more kids riding bikes in the suburbs you’d be crazy to let your kids do that in the city. Of course there will be more hit by car incidents.
Look at violent crime per capita. Drugged out Homeless per capita. It’s all city focused.
English

@MusingwithADHD @MurrayHillGuy1 Okay, so in other words, statistics are only relevant when they support your pre-existing views? Cool.
English

@AbstractEntityZ @MurrayHillGuy1 I’ve been in the burbs 4 years now vs 4 years in city with kids. 0 crackheads on my porch, 0 car break ins, 0 near miss getting ran over.
And prior to kids I was robbed at gun point a block from my house. Also yet to happen.
You aren’t convincing anyone.
English

@MusingwithADHD @MurrayHillGuy1 If you're worried about getting run over by a car, then statistically, the cities are LESS bad per capita for that than suburbs and especially less bad than rural areas.

English

@AbstractEntityZ @MurrayHillGuy1 “the city is safe just need to keep your wits about you” is cool and all when it’s just me and my wife. What kind of wits are we expecting in a 5 year old, 10 year old? Just not a place to have a carefree childhood.
English

City leadership ruined that dream.
The crackhead who came up on my front porch with my 2 young daughters sitting with me demanding I go inside and get him a Coke was the 1st strike.
2nd strike was walking my daughter pre-k and a car nearly running us over at the cross walk.
Didn’t wait for a 3rd. Too many people completely devoid of morals in the city and no leadership to rid the city of them.
