@JosephFox_088 It is not recommended to decouple the wings during flight.

2027 seems like a very fast turnaround for a crewed mission, especially. I like it too but have doubts they can have a turnaround like this. I’m super interested to see how starship plays into it once they’re out of its orbital testing phase. The reusablity intrigues me.do you follow that much?

@Mykool_Carknee @schneidalwave @bigmonkeong What do you think of the Artemis launch schedule? Ambitious, unrealistic or delusional?
I appreciate the gung-ho approach but don’t want another disaster.

English

do you think nasa would actually spend billions of dollars to get one person back from space if it was real life

@HowRYouBud @schneidalwave @bigmonkeong The landing deniers do a lot of mental gymnastics to convince us of their beliefs lolol.
English

@Mykool_Carknee @schneidalwave @bigmonkeong Fair enough. I just think they genuinely didn’t believe they needed to be “saved.” And yes there were parallels to the Challenger explosion.
I might be a little sensitive after all the “moon landing hoax!” comments posted during Artemis II.
Onward and upward.
English

“They didn’t even attempt” as in they wouldn’t even look at evidence to save their lives. Sure, they didn’t know for sure the Columbia was doomed however, again, their engineers clearly felt something was very wrong. Were they likely dead anyways? Probably, but I still would’ve tried my best to save 7 humans. Aka broken safety culture lead to their deaths. I understand you’re point of they weren’t for certain going to die. But similar issues lead to the Challenger exploding. Intentionally or not, they stranded them is my point I guess.
English

@Mykool_Carknee @schneidalwave @bigmonkeong “they didn’t even attempt to save the 7 people in a damaged space shuttle”
Sorry man, the only way to read “save” here is to “save them from dying.”
The rest of your assessment is accurate. But your implication about the extent and motives is not.
English

I’m not saying the engineers knew they’d die. I’m saying they knew of potentially catastrophic damage and not investigating further or at least taking pictures is suppressing an investigation. Bad risk assessment? “Bad risk assessment” implies they looked at the evidence and made a wrong call. The CAIB found they avoided looking at the evidence so no one would have to make a call. That’s a pretty big difference lol. Like I said the engineers knew something was wrong and were right.
English

@Mykool_Carknee @schneidalwave @bigmonkeong Everyone knows about the investigation. But you can’t say NASA knew the shuttle would break up and kill 7 astronauts. That’s a lie not supported by facts.
Unless you want to present proof.
Just say they made a bad risk assessment and leave it at that.
English

The engineers knew… they’re some of the best in the world and knew its limitations, them/the nasa photo center requested phots be taken 8 times. All of which were blocked by Linda ham, they normalized fan strikes even though the foam that hit the wings leading edge was 400-600 times bigger than any others lol. It’s blew an 18 inch hole through the RCC panel when they tested it.
English

@Mykool_Carknee @schneidalwave @bigmonkeong Stop telling people NASA knew Columbia wouldn’t survive reentry and let astronauts die. “They coulda been saved” is a lame cope and a pretty sick lie.
There’s enough awful things in the world without going out of your way to create more.
English

@Mykool_Carknee @schneidalwave @bigmonkeong they straight up ignored the concerns and were fully able to image it and see if it was good. the engineers even went behind leaderships back to get it photographed, the military said it was cool, then leadership stepped in and said no.
English

@Mykool_Carknee @bigmonkeong They did try to save them and succeeded in saving them, though?
English

@schneidalwave @bigmonkeong Yeah lol, senior NASA folks had an ego issue and didn’t listen to their engineers who seemed to have a better idea of the extent of the damage.
English

@Mykool_Carknee @bigmonkeong the columbia disaster is not analogous at all, i dont think anyone predicted that the shuttle breakup would happen. do you really think that NASA knew the shuttle wouldn't survive re-entry and just sentenced 7 people to die?
English

@Mykool_Carknee @bigmonkeong They weren't in any real danger so fuck em
English

@Mykool_Carknee @bigmonkeong this it the columbian shuttle thing right?
English

@NextNetworkJosh Here also and I think u saw the same one, isn’t called like the “Raiders vision store” or something? Lolol
English

@APutneyThompson @barstoolsports Agreed! Felt great to see him get one after he talked about needing to do more. That was a fun/great win.
