The state budget is due in a few days and Assembly Speaker @CarlHeastie says there is no agreement on the topline spending number.
He says policy discussions - discovery reform, cellphones in schools, involuntary commitment, and masks - are eating up all the negotiations.

Earlier this week in the Codes committee, a hold was placed on my bill which would establish the crimes of 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐚 𝐋𝐚𝐰 𝐄𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐫’𝐬 𝐟𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲 (A.5186). It is clear that by holding the bill, the safety of our police officers and their families is not the priority of the Assembly. Below are my remarks during the committee meeting. ⬇️
