If you could travel back to 2015 -- let alone 2005 -- and explain that a founding leader of Al Qaeda in Syria will be made President with the help of the US and Israel, then warmly welcomed in the WH and western capitals, you'd be called a crazy anti-west conspiracy theorist.

Before the war:
1) Iran didn't control the Strait Of Hormuz, now it does
2) Iran oil was sanctioned, now it's not
3) Iran was not building a nuke, now it will
4) US bases in the Gulf were assets, now liabilities
5) Inflation was declining, now increasing

Amb Huckabee is correct. This was a mistake by the Israeli police. The security concerns are real, but they should not have prevented the Patriarch from entering the Church of the Holy Sepulcher to conduct the Palm Sunday blessing.
I trust this mistake will be corrected quickly.

My statement re Prohibiting the Latin Patriarch of entering Church of Holy Sepulcher on Palm Sunday: While all Holy sites in the Old City are closed due to safety concerns for mass gatherings including the Western Wall, Church of the Holy Sepulcher and Al Aqsa Mosque, the action today by the Israel Nat'l Police to deny Latin Patriarch Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa and 3 other priests from entering the Church to offer a blessing on Palm Sunday is an unfortunate overreach already having major repercussions around the world. Home Front Command Guidelines restrict any gatherings to 50 people or less. The 4 representatives of the Catholic Church were well below that restriction. Statements from the Gov't of Israel indicate the action to prohibit Cardinal Pizzaballa entry to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher were for safety reasons, but churches, synagogues, and mosques throughout Jerusalem have met with the restrictions of 50 or less. For the Patriarch to be barred from entry to the Church on Palm Sunday for a private ceremony is difficult to understand or justify. Israel has indicated it will work with the Patriarch to accommodate a safe means of carrying out Holy Week activities.

5 minutes before the President announced a halt to attacks on Iran… someone placed a $1.5 BILLION bet on stocks going up and dumped $192 million in oil.
5 minutes…
These trades were 4 to 6 times larger than anything else in the entire market. Whoever did this wasn’t guessing. You don’t risk $1.5 billion on a hunch.
There was zero public indication this announcement was coming. No leaks. No press. Nothing. The only people who knew were in the room when the decision was made.
Someone in that room picked up a phone.
And within minutes they made more money than most Americans will earn in a thousand lifetimes. In a single trade. On a war that cost you $4+ a gallon gas and $16 billion in tax dollars.
American citizens funded this war. Politicians are profiting from it.
This is not the first time. Every major announcement from this administration has had massive suspicious trades right before it dropped. Tariff reversals. Policy shifts. War decisions.
This is the most blatant insider trading operation in the history of American politics. It’s not even close. And it’s happening over and over in broad daylight.
You would go to federal prison for trading on a tip from your cousin. These people are front running war decisions with billion dollar bets and nobody will ever ask a single question.
Nobody will be investigated. Nobody will be charged. By tomorrow this will be buried under the next satisfying headline. Just like last time. And the time before that.
The game is rigged. And they’re not even trying to hide it anymore…

BREAKING: Just five minutes before Trump's announcement to halt the attacks on Iran, massive trades reportedly hit the market. In one move, $1.5 billion in S&P 500 (ES) futures was bought while $192 million in oil (CL) futures was sold. These orders were 4–6x larger than anything else at the time. The trader seemingly made huge gains. Unusual.

In a discussion with @michaeljswalker on Friday, I said that Trump was being presented options to strike civilian infrastructure in Iran. The aim would be to cripple Iran’s economy and to make it harder for Iran to persist in the war.
I explained that hitting Iran’s critical infrastructure might shorten the war, but it would also intensify it. For that reason, that overall damage done to region and the global economy could end up being far worse during a shorter war.
If Trump hits a major power plant, Iran will respond by hitting utilities in the Gulf states and Israel—including power plants and desalination facilities—and will count on the fact that it has to hit fewer targets to have a bigger impact.
Iran has nearly 500 power plants, Israel has around 50. The largest Iranian plant, the Damavand Combined Cycle plant, accounts for about 4% of Iran’s total capacity. Israel’s largest plant, Orot Rabin, accounts for 20% of electricity production.
The fact that a US president is posting a message like this on social media represents a total breakdown in the systems that are meant to ensure the US fights wars intelligently and judiciously. The commander in chief is not of sound mind, no one in his cabinet is willing to admit it, and we are being pushed towards the edge of an abyss.

He’s winding down the war and looking for an off-ramp but will blow up all their power plants unless they open the Strait which we don’t need and will open itself anyway which is why he might send ground troops to the country he already blew off the map.
