@emily4MK @loanchargeAPPG It really has. And despite the APPGs efforts over many years (and for which I am grateful) the end is not in sight (for which I am despondent). What is stopping this government from taking a stance and ending this torture. When will enough be enough?

@DanNeidle We've had decades of barrister advice used to provide credibility to #LoanCharge schemes and these ppl (and other enablers) have made millions and walked away, leaving a trail of destruction. Meanwhile, #LoanChargeSuicides for the people duped

Just out of interest. Are you proposing to apply retrospective legislation like the previous Govt did with the #loancharge and are you going to tackle the scheme makers ? Or are these makers owned by Labour MPs ? WHAT HAPPENED TO THE RULE OF LAW?
stellacreasy@stellacreasy

Breaking: Government just confirmed it will apply new laws tackling promoting tax avoidance schemes to tax ‘finfluencers’ - protecting millions of people who have lost money or been fined following misleading financial advice. Expect a knock from the taxman if you have been ripping people off with your financial clickbait. #trueLabour

@PedantPedro @nobigfish @emily4MK The tax on promoters’ fees were neither in the Loan Charge nor in previous settlement offers…because fundamentally this money went to the promoters and it is they who should pay the tax. Why should we pay someone else’s tax bill? It’s completely outrageous.

@RedHawkWinter @Marion94862795 @emily4MK Indeed; it was only when HMRC introduced *retrospective* legislation (to cover years of their own inaction) that loan schemes became *illegal* in that they were then covered by HMRCs 18 year *Time Machine* Should apply the law as it was when loans taken out:not up to 18 yrs later

@emily4MK Emily £5000 is a drop in the ocean for most people affected. Adding back IN promoter fees just wipes that away. We are victims here of misselling why are we being exclusivity punished?

The #loanchargescandal is far from over. A horrific saga that has ruined so many lives. #loancharge
Loan Charge & Taxpayer Fairness APPG@loanchargeAPPG

In #TreasuryQuestions APPG Co-Chair @gregsmith_uk raises the fact that the #Treasury has failed to reply to THREE APPG letters about the secret #HMRC sweetheart 10-15% deal with big banks in 2005. Treasury Ministers look uncomfortable & @Dan4Barnet promises a reply. ⏰

🚨 #LoanChargeScandal latest: More on #HMRC’s 15% deals with large corporations. Ray McCann, who was working for HMRC at the time states that the deal was 2005 with big banks. The Treasury is refusing to admit this. Ministers are engaged in a cover-up. loanchargeappg.co.uk/wp-content/upl…

@itcontracting Until the government listen to the @loanchargeAPPG this scandal will continue I for one have no interest in the “settlement opportunity”. Yet another attempt at stitching up #LoanCharge victims

@itcontracting @coventry_robert Given that HMRC costs are 4x the collections on the Loancharge the economically sound approach would be to close all enquiries up to 2019 … minimising cost to revenue was Rachel’s directive… HMRC should take it as a lesson learnt and free 1000s from suicidal thoughts/ actions

@LabourSeftonCen I voted labourlast election because of the manifesto promise of a review of the #loanchargescandal. The review is not as promised and will leave honest folks bankrupt. It was piece of bad @Conservatives law that should be repealed but no! @uk_Labour says it stays

@RhonddaBryant this is why the loan charge is a Draconian retrospective tax that has killed 11 people. Get this binned before someone else commits suicide. It's government sanctioned murder by HMRC.
almost-NEON@almostneonuk

@gregwrightYP @yorkshirepost I’m £70k worse of for settling and £54k worse off for paying the IHT. All paid under pressure of HMRC doubling my bill, APN’s and loan charge.

@LCAG_2019 @Bill_Esterson @labourpress I voted for @UKLabour at last election as I thought a fair resolution of the #LoanChargeScandal would follow. Why did I believe a politician! The system is corrupt. I will be bankrupt whilst the promoters live in luxury! It stinks!
