@TimSheehyMT And here is today’s article from @kenbensinger exploring how influencers are getting a deluge of political money. (The lede of the story is about how one influencer was getting paid $100,000 from the campaign of a billionaire Democrat). 5/5 nytimes.com/2026/05/16/bus…

@marceelias The Constitution gives no public power to private entities like parties. They have no right to decide what our districts will be.

@BraddrofliT It's not the president's job. It's Congress' job. That means we have to make a tough decision. Voting the way we always have will give us the same results.

Here’s the part no one is saying: The next president won’t get a real first term. They’ll inherit a repair job. Rebuilding alliances. Restoring credibility. Undoing damage. An entire presidency spent fixing what Trump broke.

Why can’t these damn leftists run as independents or form their own party? They are parasites who use the Democratic Party name, but work against it. With friends like this, who need enemies?
adri ♡@socialistadri

.@chrisrabb explains that while he is running as a Democrat, he is Democratic Socialist. He clarifies that while the system makes is forcing him to run as a Democrat, he is very different from the other candidates who also identify as Democrats. He is different. 🔥

I’m not happy with the spineless Republicans in Congress right now. However, Democrats need independents and swing states and they aren’t going to get it by being arrogant and insulting us. Democrats used to be a moderate party/now they are a party of extremist views Both RINOS and Democrats need to be voted out in the upcoming midterms elections. Who will be voting for in the upcoming midterms?

MTG and Tucker Carlson are now openly saying America may need a third party. “Independents are bigger than the Democrat Party and the Republican Party.” “The Democratic and Republican parties are both disgusting.” “They function as one Uniparty in so many ways.” “The Democrats are planning to win the midterms based on the pathetic, utter failures of the Republican Party.” “We gave them … a mandate in 2024.” “No more foreign wars and put Americans first.” “And the Republican Party did nothing.” “I resigned from Congress because I refuse to be a part of … a party that lied to the American people and is completely selling them out.” “There’s a way to take back control.” “It comes from forming a powerful alliance of Americans that will only support … small-dollar campaigns candidates that absolutely refuse to take any money from AIPAC, from the military-industrial complex, Big Pharma, and the big donors.” Carlson: “Do you think that can be done within the current structure or do you think this calls for a third party or a fourth party?” MTG: “Independents are oftentimes over 40%.” “And if Independents were to come together on a core group of policy issues and candidates that they could fully support, then you could defeat Democrat and Republican candidates.” “It would be very hard, but it is possible.” @FmrRepMTG @mtgreenee @TuckerCarlson

Republicans, independents, Democrats need cheaper healthcare too! Tennessee gets it. Indiana gets it. Pennsylvania is starting to get it. DJTJr if you can get some republicans to support the Break up Big Medicine Bill , then the pricing of HC truly changes for the better It’s not an efficient market. Breaking up ATT opened the door to low cost communications. This is the path for HC !

The Electoral College decides who becomes president, not the popular vote. No matter who individual voters in places like Louisiana choose, the candidate with the majority wins all the state's electoral votes. When the Electoral College was created, it included the Three-Fifths Compromise, which counted enslaved Black people as three-fifths of a person for the purpose of determining a state’s total population. This gave extra electoral votes to states with slavery, which made a big difference. In the Election of 1800, Thomas Jefferson (a slaveholder) beat John Adams (an abolitionist) largely because of the additional electoral votes Southern states gained through the three-fifths clause. “Donald Trump won the presidency because of two artifacts of slavery: the electoral college and our post-Reconstruction legacy of state voter suppression and disenfranchisement efforts. The electoral college was created in the Constitution to protect the interests of slave owners. And current voter suppression efforts are a direct legacy of white efforts to prevent Blacks from voting after the Fifteenth Amendment prohibited race discrimination in voting.“ — Perea (2018) Besides Donald Trump, George Bush, Benjamin Harrison, and Rutherford B. Hayes all became president without winning the majority of the popular vote. This system is anti-democratic and continues to empower white Southerners at the expense of Black Southerners.
Nora@Heal_within96

@queenie4rmnola How is it rooted in slavery? Can you please explain

Why was the 1965 Voting Rights Act so crucial? People forget the history, but check this chart: for 90 years after Reconstruction in the 1870s, there were basically no Blacks in Congress. On purpose. This is the cruel racist history SCOTUS & @GOP Congress are trying to resurrect.

In 2020's Chiafolo v Washington they held, "Voting is not necessarily a discretionary act." Not only is voting discretionary by definition, it's the definitive example of something that is discretionary. And our whole system is built on it. We vote, Congress votes, even the Court decides cases by voting.
