Something doesn't add up. If No 10 didn't think Mandy required vetting, it is a bit cheeky of Keir to say he would not have appointed Mandy if he had known that Mandy then failed it. Vetting happened despite No 10. Keir is trying to ride the same horse in two different directions

@LaindonFEMINIST @cjsnowdon I have no issue with digital ID, that’s my choice. But if you think for one minute it will remain optional that’s simply delusional. Let’s be open about this.

@cjsnowdon You know when ID cards are introduced it will be optional. That means it’s your choice and you can opt out. I will definitely be opting in. That’s my choice too. It’s a great move to bring our country up to date. But you don’t like it. Say no. Simple.

I find Darren Jones’ obsession with making us have Digital ID cards weird and highly suspicious.

@MartinSLewis Not necessarily worthy of a warning but we found there is an element of change to the activities we enjoy. If someone had told me not to plan to do certain things but remain open-minded about what we would do once time was no longer constrained - that would have interested me.

If your response group is not representative of the whole population and is instead made up of people who are measurably of above average intelligence then you could have a 100% response of above average and they would all be correct.

If 56% of people believe they’re above average, then at least 6% are confidently incorrect – mathematics is funny like that. And if we treat “average” as the usual range rather than a single midpoint? Then the proportion of people who are mistaken climbs beyond 6%. Martin’s audience may skew slightly upward, but not enough to cause a dramatic shift in the bell curve. Still – as social experiments go, this one is rather interesting.

This is, or was, a quiche lorraine with caramelised onions. It was to be my dinner. It was meant to spend 25 minutes in the oven. Instead, due to my neglect, it spent 2 and a half hours. It is now like bakelite (older readers will remember). This is a disaster. The state of it.

@ranman_the @cjsnowdon I don’t see that. What I see is that most people haven’t seen that this is being brought in, think. that something should be done to try and prevent children accessing pornography but that this system to attempt to do so will not work.

@Suburbannnn @zalatwicc So many people find this so hard to comprehend. Since I retired 3 years ago, my friends and family ask me why I'm not finding things to do and why am I not bored doing nothing. What they mean by nothing is nothing productive. I'm happy and enjoying life and they can't see how.

@zalatwicc Presence. Simply enjoying things without feeling the need to be productive is so underrated. Highly recommend.

@oldmudgie I’ve had a bottle of ketchup in my fridge in Spain for 3 months. One of those months I wasn’t in Spain and the fridge was turned. I heard that manufacturers pay testers for finding use by dates, those testers charging exponentially more for longer periods of testing.

@moteparkhammer @Miss_Snuffy Really? In that case they are less well informed than my group of friends aged 60+. I suspect the real problem is few people listen to the lyrics in their entirety since they dislike the music genre.

@RestoreBritain_ I don’t have enough faith in the justice system to agree with the death penalty as an across the board punishment. However, there are certain cases, ie Ian Brady, Fred West, Axel Rudakubana, where I’d perhaps agree to a post sentencing consideration of it.

Should we restore the death penalty for monsters like Axel Rudakubana?
