The view out of the @Space_Station window can be stunning. This timelapse video captures the Aurora Borealis from the port window of the ISS cupola window as we orbit over the Northern US and Canada. You can also see the Moon set behind the station solar panels and even a shooting star! The shimmering ribbons of green and red light are caused by oxygen in the upper atmosphere that has been ionized and excited by solar activity. The Rosette Nebula is a vast, 130 light year wide emission nebula, approximately 5,000 light years away in the constellation, Monoceros (the Unicorn). The nebula acts as a cradle for new stars, containing massive amounts of gas and dust that form new stellar bodies.

This timelapse showcases one of our deep-sky imaging telescopes, the CDK600. This telescope is more than capable for your research, space awareness and exploration purposes. Here is a beautiful image of the Rosette Nebula captured by the CDK600. #rosettenebula #space

Our CDK1000 capturing the Topsy Turvy Galaxy. The Topsy Turvy Galaxy is a cosmic oddity where stars and gas whirl in chaotic, misaligned orbits, defying the spinning disks seen in typical galaxies. A true celestial showstopper that’s on everyone’s radar.

I have been on an astrophotography adventure in the Atacama desert! Chile has some of the best night skies, for professionals like the Paranal Observatory and for amateur telescope farms. I'll share some of the photos I took with them soon.

Just plug it in and observe. Our fully automated, weatherized space observation platform was at this week’s @amoscon in Maui, tracking objects within minutes of setup, even through passing clouds. Thanks to @COMSPOC for hosting!
