STAKEHOLDERS' ENGAGEMENT ON EXPORT SUSTAINABILITY AND THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE CROSS RIVER STATE TRACEABILITY SYSTEM
As part of the activities of the Council to cushion the impact of the crash in cocoa prices and assist in the implementation of Traceability in compliance with the European Union Deforestatuon Regulation (EUDR), the NEPC Cross River State Coordinating Office (CRSCO) in collaboration with the Cross River State (CRS) Ministry of Agriculture & Irrigation Development organized a Stakeholders Engagement on Export Sustainability and the Implementation of CRS Traceability System in Hotel 45 Hall, Etomi Road,Ikom, Cross River State, on 11th March 2026.
The NEPC CRSCO State Coordinator - Dr. Osas'Damian Omorogbe made a presentation on Strengthening Cocoa Production and Export through traceability and stakeholders collaboration.
He also highlighted stakeholders expectations towards strengthening cocoa production and Market resilience in the crisis season.
Others Presention were on;
1. Roles on the value chain Actors by PULA Advisors Team
2. Overview of State Traceabilities system: Why, Benefits & Market Access
Issues raised from participants especially Cocoa's farmers were on farm abandonment due to struggle to invest in replanting, low inputs investment, EU Market exclusion risk among others.
The attendance was drawn from a cross-section of stakeholders within the public and private sectors involved in cash crops value chain. Attendees included representatives from the State Ministries, Federal Agencies, amongst others. The Organized Private Sectors, Product Associations, Academics and Exporters within the value chain.

The Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) was actively represented as part of Nigeria’s delegation to the United Kingdom during H.E. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s visit to His Majesty King Charles III.
NEPC led the ETIP/DCTS working-level engagement with the UK, contributed to strategic discussions at the PEBEC side event, and supported the Honourable Minister in high-level meetings aimed at strengthening trade and investment ties.
These engagements reinforce NEPC’s commitment to expanding market access and positioning Nigerian exports for greater competitiveness on the global stage.

From 9–11 March 2026, the Nigerian Export Promotion Council, host of the SheTrades Nigeria Hub, together with the International Trade Centre through the UK-funded SheTrades Commonwealth+ Programme, hosted HerShowcase 2.0.
The event brought together a train-the-trainer programme on export procedures and trade compliance, the launch of export handbooks for women-led businesses exporting cosmetics and agrifood products to the United Kingdom, and a product exhibition by Nigerian women-led businesses.
On #IWD2026, we celebrate the women entrepreneurs helping grow Nigeria’s non-oil exports.

NEPC Hosts Participants of Nigeria Army Resource Centre
The Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), on Thursday at the Corporate Headquarters received participants of the Strategic Management and Policy Studies, Course 8/25 of the Nigeria Army Resource Centre led by Prof. Okey Okechukwu (MNI).
Addressing the participants, the Executive Director/CEO of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council, Mrs Nonye Ayeni explained the mandate and the core functions of the Council, describing the agency as the apex institution of the Federal Government responsible for the promoting and diversifying Nigeria’s economic base away from over-reliance on oil. She emphasized the Council’s commitment to ensuring that the non-oil export sector becomes sustainable and contributes significantly to Nigeria’s economic growth.
Speaking on the relevance of NEPC trainings and special skills, the Executive Director/CEO also informed the participants that the Council operates an Academy which has trained personnel from different agencies on various aspects of export value chain. She expressed the Council’s readiness to extend to extend its curriculum to the Nigeria Army Resource Centre, with a view to expand the participation in the export ecosystem.
While responding, the leader of the team, Prof. Okey Ikechukwu expressed gratitude to the Executive Director/CEO for hosting the participants and providing them with necessary export skills required to start an export business. He mentioned that the participants were in NEPC as part of the course requirements to visit strategic government agencies in order to assess the implementation of specific government policies and their impact on sustainable development and national security.
In addition, Prof. Okey emphasized that the course is an eleven- month Executive Programme designed for Senior Military Officers (Colonels and above) and their equivalents from other security and intelligence agencies, as well as Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
As part of the activities lined up for the visit was a technical workshop facilitated by staff of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council. The first paper focused on appreciation of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council which featured activities of the Council and its strategic initiatives to galvanize the non-oil export sector. The participants were trained on export procedures, documentation, and requirements for registration and participation in export activities.
The second paper anchored by a product specialist, Mr. Paul Ajayi of the Product Department of the NEPC featured products and export value chain initiatives. The participants were acquainted with exportable products, classification, sourcing, development, packaging and other activities before the product is ready for export.
Delivering a vote of thanks, one of the participants Dr. Bello Murtala expressed gratitude to the Nigerian Export Promotion Council for the training and expressed readiness to consider export business which he described as lucrative with capacity to create wealth and job opportunities. He called on the Management of NEPC to intensify its sensitization programmes in order to encourage more Nigerians to take to export.
