OTD in 2016: a US Navy E-2 [165293] is involved in an incident off Virginia (US). Landing in carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower, arrestor cable snapped due to maintenance issues. Aircraft was undamaged and crew made a "go-around". 8 sailors were injured. (More Info ⬇️ 1/6 )

Off Topic - "Unpredictable" is one of those Youtube channels that produces documentaries with quality VASTLY superior to a lot of professional companies with 100 times more budget. Their latest video concerns the 2001 Anthrax attacks in the US on the wake of 9/11. Don´t forget to like and subscribe them, the more of you, the more they can produce. OTD in 1982: a Garuda F-28 [PK-GVK] crashes in Lampung (Indonesia), all 28 aboard die. While landing under heavy rain, jet was unable to stop safely and overran the runway, destroying the undercarriage. Aircraft slid for some 0.46 mi and burst into flames. (More Info ⬇️ )

Some doubt the F-35 video, here some clarifications: Q: Aircraft is not evading, no towed jammer or chaff/flares A: We don't know when the clip was taken. Iranian SAM systems usually have several missiles. Well possible that it used up its high energy kinematic state to evade to missiles prior to this last one. Afterburner engaged to some extend hits to it trying to regain kinetic energy.

IRAN JUST DEPLOYED A MISSILE THAT NO ONE ON EARTH CAN INTERCEPT For 70 years, missile defense was simple. You shoot it down before it hits. Iran just proved that is no longer possible. The Fattah-2 launched. Israel fired 10 interceptors. All 10 missed. The missile hit a fortified IDF command center. 7 senior officers dead. Here is why this changes everything. A hypersonic glide vehicle does NOT fly in a straight line. It goes to the edge of the atmosphere. Then it glides back down — changing direction, changing altitude, moving at Mach 15. That is roughly 18,000 km per hour. No radar in the world tracks that well enough to intercept it. Iron Dome — the most famous missile defense on earth — was built for this exact threat. It failed. And Iran is already testing Fattah-3, which launches 15 separate warheads from ONE missile. Iron Dome cannot track 15 targets coming at Mach 15 simultaneously. Israel spent $20 billion building a defense system. Iran just made it obsolete. Oil hit $126 per barrel this week because of exactly this threat. If you think this stays in the Middle East, you haven't been paying attention.
