It appears that a Canadian PE (private equity) firm has (or will be) acquiring and/or licensing the Shenmue IP for the use of developing Shenmue 4 as a multi platform game/interactive graphic novel “experience.” Anticipating a press release within the coming weeks.

@TwoHighPunch @Shenmue_Dojo @ININ_Games @ShenmueVillage @WTShenmue This is where you're wrong! Yakuza 1 on ps2 sold 1 million units worldwide. Shenmue 1 sold more at around 1.2 million. Yakuza 2 only broke around 900,000 sales aswell, and 3 even less with 650,000 (probably not far off from shenmue 3's lifetime sales atm)

It needs to be stated that this may be the LAST chance at getting Shenmue 4 greenlit. Shenmue fans, you absolutely NEED to show up for this and show thst there is interest, or else the series is dead. (Unless the SEGA CEO is given some divine intervention lol) #letsgetshenmue4

They can use these new shenmue 3 numbers and sales data to pitch shenmue 4 to other publishers. The development costs are likely extremely low too, so ys net is guaranteed to make a profit & that can go towards any potential new game.

@OneLPhil @Shenmue_Dojo @ININ_Games @ShenmueVillage @WTShenmue This is just the new publisher that bought the IP cheap making a quick buck. They don’t have the skills, money or clout to develop a Shenmue 4. Buy this if you actually want it, not because of some crazy dream it’ll help get 4 made.

@NazRaiGaming As long as there is no AI involvement then it's good in my opinion.

With all of this controversy surrounding Nvidia's DLSS 5 using AI to render some of the sequences in Resident Evil: Requiem, I'm so grateful that Shenmue has not been afflicted by the curse of horrendous AI debauchery and fuckery... and it still remains pure and innocent in the larger gaming world.
