Every wrong turn leads here. One life, one shot, and no do-overs when the dark finally takes over. 🩸 When you reach the end of the road, will your story mean something?

@Shidosha Even though it's a decline from last year, in 2019 I had to run it as a DIY and it only had 32 players! Glad to see the American VF community continue to support the game, I was shocked at the big turnouts for CB this year too.

@Ebontis I was just curious because almost every article I read, mentioned how impressive it's but how it's likely being divisive.. And I was curious to sorta why... I mean, as much as I enjoyed all RGG's brawler based games, the mechanics are sorta not that deep... This feels good.

@TwoHighPunch I just have a feeling since it's such a unique system that some may not click with it. I really enjoyed what I played but only time will tell if it is universally liked. Hopefully it's not divisive, but as it different from any previous RGG game it's possible is all i meant.

Stranger Than Heaven – Hands-On - Combat Preview I recently got to go hands-on at Summer Game Fest with Stranger Than Heaven thanks to Sega and I was both surprised and excited by what I played. The trailers about the story already have me intrigued. A more serious tone, singers lending their voices and talent to what seems like a main pillar of the game with music, and the fact it takes place over 5 decades in different cities across Japan really does make this RGG game unique from most anything that has come before it. So much character development can happen in 50 years across Japan, and that has me hoping the story is well worth waiting until launch to dive into. The cast is stellar and RGG's talent has already been proven over and over with their previous games, but what really sets this game apart from anything else I’ve mentioned is the combat. My hands-on was just focused on combat and nothing else which had me wondering what I was in for. An easier warm-up level, intermediate with a pipe style weapon, and then the hardest difficulty part of the demo was a boss fight that presented a true challenge and would ask for some quick learning of the combat system. This combat is unique because R1 and R2 would control the right side of your body with either light or heavy attacks, including kicks. L1 and L2 would control the left side of your body. If there is a weapon in your right hand like a knife, R1 was a quick stab or R2 was a wind-up slashing swing. If your hands were empty it worked more like kickboxing but with much more control. Blocking worked similarly in that you could hold block, but to be efficient with your stamina, you would need to match the sides the punches were coming from and if timed perfectly, you could really throw your enemies off balance. If you throw a right hook and the enemy grabs it and holds on, you still have the left hand to pepper the enemy with jabs or maybe try to wind up for a big left hook or flail a bit more wildly if other enemies are approaching. Learning to dodge and make space or get out of the way of an unblockable attack with a step backwards became a crucial skill to master quickly... otherwise your health can drop rather quickly. Directionless blocking will really only get you so far, but something as simple as a quick jab with your left hand could interrupt an incoming attack. What became extremely important with groups was maintain space and keeping your fight with 1 or two enemies max. The boss fight was much more about learning your enemies attacks, tells, and finding that window where you could break their posture with a well placed onslaught to knock off a chunk of their health. I was extremely close to beating the boss on the highest difficulty demo but I didn’t quite get there. I don't want to discourage anyone who worries this isn't for them, because I mostly thing the unique nature of combat is just something we all will need ot adjust to. The key thing is I’d rather have a system that is new but in 30 min started to click, versus something I can just button mash and get through with little challenge. Engagement in combat is key to having me lean forward in my seat and get closer to this world. Recently it seems that right type of challenge is one that makes me learn something a little different, or makes me adapt a bit more than i'm used to. It may sound obvious but it does help keep things fresh. An RGG game isn’t ever going to be like a souls-game and I don’t think any of us want that either. But an arcade style button masher that almost feels brainless at times doesn’t draw me in as much, espeically when this feels like it will be a combat system tied to a narrative driven experience. If a fight can really allow a story to push forward, or the revenge plot to lead me that much closer to a final target, victory can feel that much sweeter when the challenge is real. I can see this new combat system being divisive though, depending on what you are looking for in Stranger than Heaven. Patience is much more important in combat, and deliberate attack choices will mean either connecting with a sweet combo or awkwardly flailing and losing health quickly. Each punch, kick, dodge or well timed block all become part of a well-choreographed dance when you can find the flow of this combat. I have no doubt there will be those who master this combat and make it look they are in an action movie when it is done right. Sega is taking a risk here. A new combat system, two friends on a journey through 50 years together. The music industry as a backdrop to your growth in this world. And a top notch cast that sounds like they are giving their all to bring a unique story to life, and from what I have seen so far every aspect of @STH_Game has me extremely excited to jump in at launch. I know this title won’t land the same for everyone, but in an industry that feels so risk averse right now, it’s very refreshing to see @SEGA and @RGGStudio take this unique vision to the finish line and deliver what could be their best game yet. Thank you Sega, RGG and Summer Game Fest for the hands-on preview opportunity.

@JoueurDeYs Tekken 8 flopped. Now, neither Capcom nor Namco wants other competing games dead, they need to make it economically viable and Capcom has a point here. SF6 still sells a million or so a year with just a few more characters. Has tons of peeps online. I think they nailed it.

Tekken quoi ?
Moe@MachoorTV

How does this make sense economically? Tekken 9 will probably be released sooner than that. You will let your direct competitor utilize PS6 and the new consoles generation while you’re here releasing 4 characters a year, 1 costume every 2 years and rely on avatar customization?

This Fall lineup is crazy. The response to our release date shift has been shockingly positive! If you haven't seen our game before, it's a soulslike but in first-person. You wield swords, firearms and magic to survive a supernatural retelling of the Napoleonic Wars

I really love Virtua Fighter, how it plays and how it feels. That being said, coming from a tekken background, vf peeps need to stop advertising vf as „its like the tekken you ever wanted, you need to try it“. It is not. It feels vastly different and doesnt play (1/3)
