@shaunmmaguire The “center” is the 90% of Americans who just want a decent life. The “extreme” is the shareholder class that continues to take all the gains while holding down their worker’s wages. The “confusion” is generated by the shareholder class to keep the 90% fighting with each other.

The reality is that America is being pulled to extremes from both sides The center is still strong, but it’s being confused by the extremes The center needs to be louder

Huge news from a few min ago: Sen. Murkowski plans to offer an amendment to the Senate bill today that would ease the aggressive phase out of clean energy tax credits.

@chamath So you want the public to believe that a man who literally lives at country club and notoriously doesn’t read, is not self dealing, but is rather just inquisitive and open minded 😂

@rabois @JustinWolfers That’s because the rich have kept nearly all of the gains in economy over the last 50 years for themselves! Pay your workers more! Stop being greedy!

Trump's tariff-for-tax cut swap is very cleverly disguised populist policy that sounds like it's all about beating up on China to help American workers. The reality is that it's about tax cuts for the rich, paid for by import taxes on the American working and middle class.

@elonmusk Or, we let the rich bankrupt the middle class and now almost every family has two working parents who don’t get to raise their children as they toil away to produce more profits for you and your greedy friends. Pay people more.

In its simplest terms, the apparent demise of #USAID is the result of the world's richest man ending a program that helps millions of poor people. You don't need a Ph.D. in moral theology to see why this is an evil. You can just read Jesus's parables on the rich and the poor.

I’ve been warning the left for a long time to brace for impact because we lost touch with populism and electoral losses were on the way. Now, I’ll warn the right-wing to brace for impact. The country is about to turn on @elonmusk. Going fast and breaking things might work in Silicon Valley, but it doesn’t work with the US government. When things get broken in the government, it puts people’s lives in danger. He’s going too fast and breaking too many things. The majority of the country is much more moderate than either side wants to admit. There’s about to be a backlash.

When I started talking about Oligarchy, many people didn't understand what I meant. Well, that's changed. When the 3 wealthiest men in America sit behind Trump at his inauguration, everyone understands that the billionaire class now controls our government. We must fight back.

Thank you, President Biden. You were absolutely right when you stated last night that: "An oligarchy is taking shape in America of extreme wealth, power and influence that threatens our entire democracy, our basic rights & freedoms." This is the defining issue of our time.

@chamath I don’t disagree with the premise, but perhaps you could’ve said “solar + battery” instead of “solar + Powerwall” to at least pretend like DOGE isn’t just a way to funnel money to your sugar daddy’s companies…

DOGE! "The U.S. DOE is set to grant PG&E a record $15B low-interest loan for grid upgrades and emissions cuts. The multi-year loan aims to boost resilience amid rising power demand and extreme weather." PG&E serves 5M homes in California. They are the most expensive and often, only, electricity alternative for those homeowners in part because of the complexity, permitting and net metering rules when a home tries to adopt solar in CA. Other states make it much simpler, faster and is much cheaper, too. In the last few days of the Biden Administration, PG&E convinced the DOE to give them a $15B loan. That same amount of money could, instead, give 500k-1M of the 5M homes PG&E oversees a complete solar + powerall combo which would make those homes resilient and self reliant. They would then not need the grid except in emergencies. Not sure how this happened but the DOE should have at least considered both vs only helping the incumbent.

Socialism allocates scarcity. Capitalism incentivizes abundance. Always good to remind ourselves of this from time to time.

Both political parties in America are dominated by billionaires and corporate money. Real change in this country will come about when an organized working class leads the fight for justice. We need working class candidates to help us do that. thenation.com/article/politi…

I’m not exaggerating when I say this could collapse the government within a year. 🚨🚨 Musk and Ramaswamy just dropped their first "DOGE" roadmap, and it’s a disaster waiting to happen. Here’s how they plan to dismantle the federal government step by step:

This has always been the GOP's strategy: 1) Cut taxes for the wealthy & corporations by claiming they'll pay for themselves. 2) Explode the deficit. 3) Demand cuts to Social Security and Medicare. 4) Repeat. Don't let them get away with it.
