Yesterday I told Rork's story at @fdotinc A year ago, we applied to their new experimental program for unknown founders called "Cold Start", where we grinded during the Christmas holidays for a chance to get a $100K check We pivoted 3 times, but thanks to @levan built the best web app that builds mobile apps @hthieblot told us there are two ways to raise money as a "no one" in SF: YC Demo Day and Twitter (X) So we did it: we launched despite fearing competitors like Bolt and Replit, and raised $2.8M in a week from a single tweet by @mattshumer_. We got backed by a16z @speedrun and some of the best SF funds & angels We broke our infrastructure provider, slept on an air mattress, and paid for Anthropic credits out of debt Now Rork is the biggest app that builds real mobile apps If you want to be the next, just move to SF – it will change your life
