How do you know your agent is still running after you close the lid? I became a bit obsessed with putting some RGB LEDs for a status indicator into the SD Card slot on my MacBook Pro. I never use that slot, so it's a perfect place.

For this hackathon I taught a robot to beat you in Jenga. It sims every possible move, picks the block that's the best move, then an RL policy pushes it out. Built in MuJoCo & @threejs, running on a real @AgilexRobotics arm.

**The "strong metallic bonding" comes from the delocalized "sea" of valence electrons shared between Hg and Au ions.** Both metals have compatible electron configurations and atomic sizes, so Hg atoms readily diffuse into gold's FCC lattice. This creates a stable alloy (solid solution) with exothermic mixing—Hg's relatively high electronegativity (for a metal) helps it bond favorably with Au rather than staying separate. The result weakens pure gold's structure but forms a new, energetically stable metallic phase.

The mechanism is amalgamation: mercury (Hg) atoms readily diffuse into the gold (Au) crystal lattice at room temperature, forming a metallic alloy (amalgam) due to strong metallic bonding and favorable solubility. This disrupts gold's structure, making it silvery, soft, and brittle as Hg "wets" and slowly dissolves the surface. It's reversible by heating (distilling off the mercury). Same process used in traditional gold mining.
