In a statement, the President highlighted the accessibility and flexibility of subsidy distribution through various payment methods, which are designed to support digital transactions for faster, more convenient and secure disbursement. He called for ongoing cooperation among operators, drivers and the private sector to further improve the system. The program emphasized the importance of a reliable system that provides timely assistance to transport operators and drivers, with Php10,000 allocated per bus unit to help offset the impact of rising global fuel prices. Implemented by the Department of Transportation (DOTr), in collaboration with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) and partner agencies, the fuel subsidy distribution serves as a vital social protection measure to support transportation operations during fluctuating fuel prices. It also aims to lessen the effect of increasing fuel costs on operators, drivers and the riding public, starting in Metro Manila. During the launch at the PITX, a total of 27 operators covering 1,096 units received assistance, reinforcing the Administration’s commitment to supporting livelihoods and ensuring continuous, reliable public transportation services nationwide. 🇵🇭

Marcos Jr. inspected the Solar Powered Irrigation Projects (SPIPs) of the San Agustin-San Ramon Agrarian Reform Farmers Cooperative (SARFC) and the New Mataoroc, San Jose, Sagrada Familia and Baliuag Viejo (MASSBA) Multi-Purpose Cooperative at Bula and Minalabac in Camarines Sur on March 23, 2026. These SPIPs provide reliable, cost-effective irrigation powered by solar energy, reducing farmers’ reliance on traditional fuel-based systems. Funded by the Establishment of Groundwater Pump Irrigation Project (EGPIP) Solar Calendar Year 2024, the projects span over 1,800 hectares of farmland and support 1,854 farmers in the Province. During the inspection, the President engaged in a discussion with the SARFC farmers, during which they expressed that the SPIP greatly lowered their electricity expenses and improved their livelihoods against external challenges. The shift to solar-powered irrigation significantly reduces operational costs for farmer cooperatives. Before the project, SARFC faced monthly electricity bills ranging from Php300,000 to Php450,000 for pump operations, while the MASSBA cooperative had long-standing electricity obligations. With the implementation of the SPIPs, these costs have been greatly lowered, enabling farmers to devote more resources to productivity and income growth. The projects promote climate-resilient and environmentally friendly farming by reducing dependence on fossil fuels and ensuring a more reliable water supply for agricultural lands. The initiative emphasizes the government’s commitment to modernizing irrigation systems, boosting agricultural productivity, and improving the livelihoods of Filipino farmers through sustainable solutions. 🇵🇭

Addressing long-standing structural gaps in Bicol’s agrifood value chains, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. led the inspection of the Bicol Mega Cold Storage Warehouse and the newly constructed Vegetable and Fruit Processing Facility at the Bicol Mega Cold Storage Facility – Camarines Sur in Barangay San Jose, Pili, Camarines Sur on March 23, 2026. A flagship project of the Department of Agriculture (DA), the Php500 million Bicol Mega Cold Storage Facility aims to improve the storage and distribution of agricultural and fisheries products amid long transport routes, high logistics costs and frequent typhoons in Region V. The facility will help preserve food quality, ensure a more reliable supply of commodities, and connect farmers more efficiently to markets. This initiative is part of the DA’s broader effort to develop modern, energy-efficient cold chain and food logistics infrastructure. The facility is expected to serve not only Camarines Sur but also nearby provinces, including suppliers from the Visayas and Mindanao. Complementing this project, a Php290 million postharvest facility will process fruits and vegetables into dried, frozen, canned and pureed products, with integrated packaging, canning, blast freezing and cold storage systems. Of the total project cost, Php240 million was allocated for equipment and Php50 million for building construction. Once operational, the complex is expected to reduce postharvest losses, directly benefiting 5,711 farmers and creating 582 jobs. It will supply markets in Bicol, Southern Tagalog, Metro Manila, Visayas and Mindanao, with 30 percent of its output targeted for export and another 30 percent for institutional buyers. Concluding his visit, President Marcos Jr. participated in a discussion with local farmers, local officials and other stakeholders. 🇵🇭

Marcos Jr. welcomed the arrival of the fourth chartered flight carrying repatriated overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) from the Middle East at Villamor Air Base in Pasay City on March 23, 2026. A total of 343 OFWs and their dependents were repatriated from Saudi Arabia (109), Kuwait (99), Bahrain (79) and Qatar (56) amid the ongoing crisis. Due to limited or restricted airspace, those coming from Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar traveled by land, spending an average of seven (7) to eight (8) hours before gathering in Riyadh, where they boarded the flight to Manila. Upon arrival, they were reunited with their families. President Marcos Jr. personally engaged with returning OFWs and their families and observed the delivery of government support services.
