Just finished (and paid for) my application for British citizenship. I’m an immigrant but I came here legally, obey laws, speak the language, don’t preach about how much better my homeland is, and have integrated nicely. Pretty please can I have it? 🥺

@Clint_Davey1 I'd add Wicked sense of humour and an aversion to using long words And to modify slightly your statement about American food. Except for pies

It's Australia Day. Many of my followers are not Aussies - so here is what we are like. -Combination of Britain and USA. Drink tea and watch cricket (like Brits) but have a rural cowboy culture and very American tastes in food and music. -Cynical about politics but most have a default trust in public institutions due to vague ancestral memory of Victorian-era competence in the civil service. -Excellent military record. Especially famous for our infantry and their penchant for close assault. Every Aussie kid learns about Gallipoli (1915), Kokoda (1942) and Long Tan (1968) in school. We've fought in a lot of 20th and 21st century conflicts. The military is highly respected. -Generally optimistic and patriotic. For most of our history, things have been getting better. This might be changing. Everyone (rightly) whinges about housing prices. -Not a majority - but certainly a large minority - are high-functioning alcoholics. We're famous for liking beer (our beer is terrible though) but we also have excellent wine. -Half the country is Christian (of that number, roughly half are Catholic and half Protestant) but we don't talk about religion much. -Lots of nice beaches and pretty much everyone goes there. We like the beach. -We have a lot of animals found nowhere else on earth. That's cool. -Most of the country is empty. 85% of us live huddled on the east coast, within 50km of the beach. Majority live in cities or suburbs, not rural areas. -Overall, a great country and excellent place to live and raise a family. Happy Australia Day!

This is unequivocally the most astounding capture of the atmosphere that I have ever seen. If you are a younger meteorologist, watch this then attempt to understand it through study. All hurricanes have a center, not all hurricanes attain cyclostrophic balance and produce one of the rarest phenomena on planet earth.

Fifth and final pass through Hurricane Melissa for our crew today. Just after noon entering from the NW corner exiting SE.

Is there a German word for lurking awkwardly while someone repairs/survices something in your house?

@sav__martinez I really want to go the Tyrol, so many spa hotels. I love the mountains but it's so lovely to have a comfortable hotel and great food in easy reach too

@sav__martinez If you do go, try to make time to see more of the Netherlands than Amsterdam. Some very pretty places

The coolest part about being in Amsterdam is the language is so close to English but just incomprehensible enough that it feels like you’re having a stroke the entire time
