This is possibly my favorite time-lapse that I've ever taken. Watching the colors explode then transition thru the spectrum is spectacular.

My super strong parenting opinion is that while the kids are awake, you come last. No spending all of Saturday golfing. That’s family time. 6 am tee time only, maybe. Wanna go to the gym? Go after the kids go to bed, or wake up at 5. In a few short years, they’ll be out of the house and you’ll have all the time in the world for your own stuff. It’s okay to come last for a while.

The Morrill Fire (Nebraska) is estimated at 453 thousand acres this afternoon. Explosive growth in two days with another critical fire weather day tomorrow. Fuels across much of the western plains and Colorado are exceptionally receptive to fire right now and this is an example of what can happen when an ignition combines with extremely critical fire environments.

I have not seen a supercell be that prolific of a very large to giant hail (2.75-5”+) producer in a very long time.

These visuals coming out of the main snow band confirm that this was in fact a generational storm. Absolutely unreal.

This snow band is an all-timer. When we go back in post-analysis, we’ll likely see that this produced a foot of snow in just 3-4 hours if not less. Supported by incredible lift within the ascending branch of the frontogenetic circulation, it follows that this band won’t weaken but will contract through time. Whoever remains within that contraction will likely see 3+ FEET of snowfall by storm’s end.
