Der Kern bleibt: Im Ernstfall braucht Verteidigungsfähigkeit die gleichen militärischen Fähigkeiten, die auch als „kriegstüchtig“ bezeichnet werden. Die Unterscheidung ist daher sprachlich, nicht funktional.

Wie verteidigungsfähig ist ein Land, das nicht kriegstüchtig ist? 🤷‍♂️

@AddiKoch @fritzfelgentreu Die Sache ist das eine, die Intention ist das andere. In der Regel verschleiern Politiker ihre Absichten. Dass der Krieg und nicht die Verteidigung als Bezugspunkt genannt wird, ist in der deutschen Nachkriegsgeschichte einmalig.

@PeterMenke7 @fritzfelgentreu Du vermischst zwei Ebenen: Intention und Fähigkeit. Die Absicht mag defensiv sein, aber im Ernstfall entscheidet die Fähigkeit. Und Verteidigungsfähigkeit bedeutet dann, Krieg führen zu können – also kriegstüchtig zu sein.

@fritzfelgentreu Sehr guter Einwand: Die Differenzierung zwischen „verteidigungsfähig“ und „kriegstüchtig“ ist Wortakrobatik. Im Ernstfall geht es nicht um semantische Abstufungen, sondern darum, ob ein Staat militärisch in der Lage ist, einen Angriff abzuwehren – also kriegstüchtig zu sein.

This footage from Ukraine is absolutely soul crushing. I stood in this exact street 12 months ago - Shevchenko Avenue in Dobropillya. I got soda from the cafe right there, the one I circled. When I visited 12 months ago there was still life in the city. I ate pizza at a shop on this street with @rpotter_9. Back then the Russians were like 20 clicks away from the city. Over the past year they advanced to within 5-10 clicks so they just destroyed the city with waves of drone terror attacks.

He rejected pulling Ukrainian troops from Donetsk and Luhansk, called it a strategic defeat, and questioned how Trump can be a long-term security guarantor with only 2.5 years left in office. On Witkoff and Kushner still not showing up in Kyiv after multiple delays: "It's not us who need it, it's them." Trump is pushing for a fast deal tied to territorial concessions. Zelensky is refusing to budge on the ground and demanding guarantees that outlast any single U.S. presidency. Zelensky does not trust Trump as a guarantee because he has over half a term left. The underlines: Did he mean he's not leaving office anytime soon?
