“When I went to Motorola the first year, I was a young kid getting pushed around the European peloton,” he said. “People yelling at you, like, ‘What are you doing here?’” George Hincapie’s Modern Adventure – 'We want to be the Bad News Bears' veloracycling.com/features/georg…

I think this may be the story of the next few years in the cycling industry. Yes, China has always exported affordable bikes, but here we have a bike that’s been through the wind tunnel, has every production fork X-rayed for imperfections, and is available with Shimano 105 and a carbon wheelset for $3,299 - taxes and shipping included. The gap in terms of customer experience and marketing appeal has substantially narrowed. European brands may still have stronger engagement with the WorldTour, but realistically, beyond the superstars of the peloton, those bike brand placements often don’t turn the dial. And even there, more Chinese brands are beginning to sponsor teams.

Remco Evenepoel posts on IG that he's stranded in Tenerife by Storm Therese and unsure if he'll be able to make it for the Volta a Catalunya 👀

@chesterbells1 Yea, MvdP is fave, but odds are shortening on Pog - reading back I realise that wasn't 100% clear 🤦‍♂️ Lots are roughly 2/1 on both. Caveat: I don't gamble, purely interested in favourites!

@PeterStuart3 Haven’t checked bookmakers but surely MVDP is still favourite. Tom should have plenty of confidence after yesterday :-)

This really doesn't seem like a nice thing to post from Rohan Dennis...

It had completely passed me by that Chris Horner has a very successful YouTube channel focussed on race tactics. And he also seems to really have it in for MvdP...

@BenjiNaesen @veloracycling True re Martinez, I touched on that. I'd say things are looking brighter for him compared to a few weeks ago when he pulled out of UAE. I'm honestly just hoping for a closer race this summer 🙏

Honestly, Vingegaard's Paris-Nice performance isn't that meaningful for the Tour de France outside of the general confirmation that he's still the second-best GC rider in the world. The 4’23” against third-tier GC riders is completely inconclusive for any answers to the question on whether he can combat Tadej Pogačar at the Tour de France. If anything, not being able to drop Lenny Martinez on the final stage is a rather disappointing outcome for Vingegaard. Pogačar would've dropped Martinez like a brick.
