I noticed this trend when picking my March Madness Bracket..... People overreact to names, headlines, and what feels “obvious” way too much in tournament pools. That creates binary decision making. “BYU has AJ Dybantsa” “Ohio State is a bigger brand” “Duke is Duke” “Kentucky is Kentucky” That’s exactly where value starts getting distorted imo. Yesterday, the reason I took Texas was simple.... BYU was one of the most overowned teams in the tournament especially for a 6 seed. People see the best player in AJ Dybantsa and start treating the entire team like they’re way more likely to advance than they actually are. Same thing with OSU..... Around ~60% of the public was on them, but they did not have a true 60%+ chance to beat TCU. This happens every year but this year specifically, I noticed it a lot more in the %s Picks.
