Only 11 percent of NJ construction workers belong to a union. Insisting on union labor makes pols' alleged focus on "cheaper, cleaner power" less credible.

Bottom line: Hochul wants CLCPA fixes to avoid further cost jumps and bans. But it won't reverse past electric bills increases or reliability problems.
‼️These are serious problems NY lawmakers should have been tracking and debating, not counting on Hochul to save them from.‼️

The worst element of CLCPA was the uncertainty it created. Unless Hochul paves a clear path for replacement power plants to get built and permitted, emissions will remain higher than necessary and grid reliability will remain under threat.

Gov. Hochul needs to tackle 3 big problems caused/exacerbated by NY's climate law:
1. threats to grid reliability
2. electric bills jumps
3. looming 'carbon taxes'

Supporting a fix to Tier 6 (and what about Tier 5?) will make a real difference in helping attract and retain people who serve our communities every day. These changes come with a cost to our counties. It’s also time for another fix. We should take the next step and extend Aid and Incentives for Municipalities (AIM) funding to counties to ensure we have the resources needed to deliver the essential services that our residents rely on. Counties need more financial assistance and better ways to keep positions filled.
