It has been increasingly hard to train my brain to not associate time/effort/societal value with profit, but then I remembered how my vet friend told me the VA actually tells them to say they have subjective tinnitus because it's not falsifiable and he's getting minimum 300k backpay for 50% medical conditions he doesn't even have.

"Hacks" star Hannah Einbinder blasts AI creators as "losers" and says she wants to "put their head in the toilet and flush": “The people who make this stuff are losers. They’re not artists. They’re not creative. And they’ve wanted their whole lives to be special. And they’re not special. So, they’re trying to rob real creative people of our gifts. And you can’t. And even if you try, you will never be cool. You guys suck. No one likes you. Anyone who’s near you is because they crave power and access over any ethical standard. You are a loser. You will never be cool. And you probably had a rolly backpack in high school. I wanna put your head in the toilet and flush.” variety.com/2026/tv/news/h…

@CryptoMikli One caveat is I maybe recall reading is that insulin resistance might not occur at all even in the presence of very high sugar diet if you are healthy or underweight. I'd have to look into it again.

Clavicular reveals how he can eat McDonald’s and still stay lean “It’s just about the total macros. If you’re in a caloric deficit, it doesn’t matter what you eat. They’ve done studies where people only eat Rice Krispies Treats or Twinkies and lose weight the same as eating beef. 2,000 calories in Twinkies or 2,000 calories in sweet potatoes is going to be the same for weight loss”

Also, many fields and figures do both. It's not even that binary.

The Arts and STEM should really be equally respected. I dislike that we are often pitted against one another. A story can save a life. A new technology can save a life. A story can give a reason to live. A new technology can give a reason to live. At its worst, the arts exclude. At its worst, technology hollows. But when we respect one another, we build something beautiful that neither could alone.

Listen, I've wanted trains as much as anyone, but the sheer size of the US makes them super expensive and we already have so much plane/automotive lobbying and infrastructure. What may be easier to implement politically is exclusive high speed highway system permitted only to autonomous vehicles once they reach safety spec, but don't expect the latter for quite some time and the former much longer after that. You'd have way less lobbying against that from the automotive industry.

Announcement: not all AI are LLMs. You have CNNs, GAMs, diffusion models, reinforcement learning systems, variational autoencoders, Symbolic AI, weather prediction models, earthquake detection, autocorrect, social media algorithms, the list is massive, unending, and varied wildly in terms of complexity and accuracy.

@PortalOperator @IndigenousUncle @Variety The biggest irony in situations like this: the algorithm that was smart enough to achieve driving this person to believe AI is useless (when it’s not), is AI

@IndigenousUncle @randomdude22401 @Variety Prov-GigaPath, MERLIN, Viz.ai, Aidoc, Robot-assisted surgery, the list is extensive. The diagnostic game is actually huge in terms of preventative, life-saving medical science. As always: technology is a tool. And how you use it is everything.
