While minor girls and parents' rights are legally protected from abortion in within Texas, young girls can be taken for secret abortions out of state. The Texas Legislature must end that.

PARENTS MUST KNOW: Emily Hoegler, J.D., AUL's Policy Counsel, appeared before the Connecticut Joint Judiciary Committee last week and urged them to pass HB 5309, a bill requiring parents to be notified before a minor receives an abortion. "Adolescent girls face heightened risks when they conceal abortion from their parents," Emily noted before highlighting the stories of Dawn Ravenell and Sandra Kaiser, two teenage girls who died from abortion complications that could have been prevented with parental knowledge.
