The Court rejected NJ Transit’s claim that it is an “arm of the State” entitled to sovereign immunity under the Eleventh Amendment. Sullivan Papain's, Brian J. Shoot, represented the appellee before the Court and played a key role in securing this victory for plaintiffs’ rights.

A #CSW70 event co-hosted by the BIC highlighted an initiative to establish an International Anti-Corruption Court (IACC), which would strive to address cases of state-level corruption. This issue would be tackled through seeking justice for those affected and in the rebuilding of societies after the fact. This proposal articulated that there can be "clear structures based on shared, underlying values, translated into the fabric of an institution."Justice is expressed in a community’s freedom to conceive and pursue its own path of development, connecting local initiatives to international frameworks for sustainable change. Ensuring effective mechanisms to address corruption can be an essential part of advancing justice. This initiative highlighted how a small group of committed individuals can initiate efforts to address injustice and widen the circle of collaboration around a shared cause.
