@jaysonyork years of commentary, YOU came up with something different, have a special insight no one in the last 2000 years. Marketing and buzzwords are just as important as tenets of Paul's letters. Elevate. LifeChurch.

@jaysonyork Here is my 2 cents you did not ask for: Churches are now like twitter. Its not enough to simply preach the Gospel from the Bible. It has to be a show with Monster trucks, fog machines, wanna be rock and rollers. You have to have a different take, regardless of the last 2000

Unpopular pastoral opinion #18 The modern method of naming churches is so, so dumb The Well Energize Church Water’s Edge (I’ve lived this one) I don’t know the solution exactly, but I also know that these seem so contrived and fake

Unpopular pastoral opinion #17 Most short term missions trips serve little/no benefit to anyone. Occasionally disaster relief or specific evangelistic outreaches are impactful. Most trips are Christian tourism or a form of international youth camp Mostly a waste of time/money

Unpopular pastoral opinion #9? A pastor should be available to chat with his congregation often, he should know the name of the people in his church, he should visit them, spend time with them, and know their lives. Pastors who don’t aren’t pastors, they are public speakers

@Soteriology101 If that is what he believed, what good was he to anyone? Why did he draw a salary? If I had no influence on my salvation, he certainly did not. By his own doctrine.

Calvinists really need to learn the actual point of our contention because this is not it. Of course salvation is determined by God. He either determined to save those who believe, or he has determined to pick people unilaterally before they’re born and cause them to believe so as to save them while leaving the rest in a hopeless condition. That is the point of contention!

@LilaGraceRose Why? Praying for anyones soul after they died is futile, the decision was already made as to what happened to them.

@gotrice2024 @CreasonJana Hands down, it is her decision and she loves her real Dad in spite of his failings. The Stepdad should want HER to be happy on HER wedding day. This is not about him.

This woman was called out because she opted for her real dad to walk her down the aisle of her wedding instead of her stepdad. The real dad was never there for her, always made empty promises and then bailed on her her. Her stepdad paid for all of her schooling, bought her a new car when she graduated high school so she could go to college, and agreed to pay for her wedding. It wasn’t until a short time before the wedding that she accidentally let slip that she’s having her dad walk her down the aisle instead of the stepfather that provided for her and pushed her to do better. In fact, she and her mom were living with him at the time as well. He raised her as his own and gave her every advantage. After the stepfather came to the realization that all he is to the family is an outsider and an atm machine, he dumped the mom and refused to pay for her wedding. She blames him for ruining her dream wedding and felt like he should have still paid for it even though he was being treated more as a guest to the wedding instead of part of the family, if she wanted her real dad in the wedding, why didn’t she ask him to pay for it?

@gotrice2024 @LDaialogue It’s HER DAY not theirs or even the stepdad It should be about what makes her happy at the end of the day A great stepfather would encourage her to share that moment with her real dad if that’s what’s in her heart to do I feel for her even having to be out I. This position

@elonmusk Here is what I don't get: I would not want to hang out at a place that looked like that on Earth. Why would I want to spend 2 years in a tin can getting there, and when I get there, I can't even breathe the atmosphere? Or get a drink? Or a Freezie Cue?

@kochc01 @1984_nate And that is why we pray for others. If it was already predestined and locked in, our prayers would not matter. It was already decided before I was born. But if everyone can choose faith in Jesus, you can pray that they genuinely hear, receive and fairly consider the Gospel.

@kochc01 @1984_nate Because we have a choice. One road is broad, and one road is narrow and leads to salvation. If you never give it a thought, you will 99% choose the broad road that leads to destruction. But if you consider the Gospel, who we are, who God is, you have a chance to choose life.

@kochc01 @1984_nate Why do we pray for someone to give up a sin? Pray that someone quits drugs? crime? Pray that their eyes would be opened, hearts would be softened, ears would be willing to listen. Pharoah's heart hardened.

@1984_nate We don’t know God’s election, and our prayers are part of God’s plan. So, prayer matters. You believe God will not save anyone who doesn’t make that choice for themselves. Why pray to God when God left it up to the man?

@chris_jolliff @1984_nate Every preacher that believes we have no part in our salvation due to their view of election needs to give every cent they earned as pastor back, bc if I have no influence on my own salvation, they surely don't have any effect.

@1984_nate To answer Voddie: Because we believe God predestined the means by which man may be saved through faith in the ELECT One: Jesus (Who came through His elect people: Jews - John 4:22) This does not mean God elects individuals to salvation and reprobates others.
