Max your vibes, not your data. Download your movies, music, and apps on Wi-Fi, then enjoy them on the go without burning through your bundle. Smart moves = more data saved. #MaxxxxYoMbs

Stream more. Scroll longer. Download wiser. Get your movies, playlists, and apps on WiFi before you head out—so you’re always ready, no pauses, no pressure. Cut the data stress, keep the vibes going. #MaxxxxYoMbs

Smartphones shouldn’t be a luxury in a digital economy. High taxes on entry level devices are locking out millions especially women, youth, and persons with disabilities from accessing the internet and opportunities that come with it. If Uganda is serious about digital inclusion, lowering the cost of smartphones isn’t optional… it’s essential. #DigitalInclusionUG @MoICT_Ug @mofpedU @Parliament_Ug @PSF_Uganda

MTN Uganda
MTN Uganda@mtnug·
Thank you for raising this. To clarify: For a UGX 150,000 withdrawal (UGX 4,325 fee): • UGX 750 + UGX 466 → UGX 1,216 goes to government (about 28%), comprising a 0.5% levy on the withdrawal amount and 15% excise duty on the service fee Of the remaining UGX 3,109: • UGX 1,600 → mobile money agents (about 37%) These are part of a nationwide agent network of over 200,000 agents who provide deposit and withdraw services and use their own capital to ensure money is available when customers need it • Only 35% goes to MTN (UGX 1,509), covering network, platform, compliance, and admin costs, not purely profit The real issue: Customers are taxed to access their own money. If you earn UGX 500,000 via mobile money: • You’ve already earned taxed income • You pay 0.5% just to withdraw it • And the service fee is taxed again This is why the call is to review the 0.5% withdrawal tax, not the service fee.

@DailyMonitor @NCenaandrew I need @mtnug to explain this clearly If I withdraw 150k, the charge is 4325, and the government takes say 0.5% of the transaction. Im playing the government shs. 750, but Mtn is taking shs.3575 Who is taking the lions share. Mtn im praying and fasting for your downfall.
