...if what you really need is someone to negotiate a deal you can also opt to just hire a lawyer with experience in doing deals and pay them a one time fee. Also ask prospective agents their churn rate (who and how many have left them and why.3/3 #CNNJobsChat

They are NOT necessary at all. We have hired many people at CNN who didn't have agents or we found them without the help of an agent. Agents are a very personal choice. They can be helpful but you need to assess what you need and want them to do for you...1/3 #CNNJobsChat

I call it “keeping up your momentum”. You need to engage. Keep your job search activity up. Attend as many virtual conferences/meetings as you can. Be emailing and videochatting. You never know when one of those will pay off. You can’t give up. Stay resilient. 1/2 #CNNJobsChat

3/3 make every interaction substantive. Every so often send another piece of relevant content and ask for a critique or send a smart observation about content you read or saw at the company. That's a more creative way to nudge them you are still interested and here #CNNJobsChat
