New: @lachicamayra, former executive director of Latino Victory Project and former executive director of Build Back Together, is planning to run as an independent for the district where she grew up and which @RepChuyGarcia currently represents. I'm told by a person familiar with her campaign that she was spurred to run two weeks ago when Rep. Garcia "attempted to coronate his chief of staff, as she believes voters in her home district deserve a choice in who represents them." She will be making an announcement in the next few weeks, the person tells me.

All of this talk about hemp reminds me it’s been 6 yrs. since Hemp Roots! It was a career highlight to do a three part docuseries on Black hemp farmers in Kentucky.
