@BUndertreeB @sama However, the water that is "used" to make the feed for cattle is usually just rain falling on a pasture. It continues on in the water cycle in a completely natural way.

@sama One hamburger does not take 660 gallons of water. That would be for one whole cow maybe over its lifetime. Let’s compare the amount of water from a cow’s lifetime to the same amount of time ChatGPT uses.

@AJChadha @AlecStapp Simple botec: If I multiply how much a cow drinks per day x how much grain it consumes x gallons to produce each lb of grain x days the cow's alive / # of burgers a cow can produce gets me to a range of between 100 - 700 gallons of water per burger.

@TheKevinDalton Look at all that build up of dry brush and annual grasses. This area should be seasonally grazed by livestock, short duration and high intensity. Its one of the most cost effective and productive ways to mitigate fire. Livestock were removed from these rangelands decades ago

LA’s landscape used to rely on large animal herds to naturally trim grass and brush. Today, fire risks soar without them. Seasonal herds of cattle and goats could bring balance back. 🔥🌿 🐐
